wheeeee.
um. i've been reading/watching stuff. but as soon as i logged into blogger i promptly forgot all of them. umm.. oh!
finding nemo: aww! cute, funny, fantabulous animation, goodtimes for all. yes, all.
the house on mango street by sandra cisneros: very sweet, poignant series of vignettes from a mexican-american girl's life. actually, i think it's all in about a year. but yes. funny at times, sad at times, and a right quick read.
lost in cyberspace by richard peck: okay, i know it's a superlame title. but i grabbed it because i had heard the author speak last week (before neil gaiman! squee!) and it was actually really good. i checked out another one of his books too, i'll get back to you guys on that one. it's sort of a doofy coming of age/time travel thingie. but well-written. word.
good morning, vietnam: i'd never seen this before, and neither had some of my friends, so we watched it.. i enjoyed it. very funny, but it also did a good job, i think, of portraying both sides of the vietnam war. i mean conflict. or maybe i mean police action, i can never remember. a bit of heavyhanded acting when robin williams tries to be Deep, but it's okay. worth a rent, if you're in the mood.
the mayor of castro street by randy shilts: aaabsolutely fascinating. non-fiction, but don't be scared. his writing is so well-researched and detailed that it reads like a novel. (of course it helps that he's got such an interesting topic-- harvey milk, the first openly gay elected public official.) but yeah. it was great, i thoroughly and enthusiastically recommend it. (and also his other book, and the band played on, which is about the first 5 years of the aids crisis.) for me, the thing about non-fiction.. is that with books i like a lot, i usually read them at least twice-- the first time through rather fast, because i get all caught up in the plot and i have to know what happens, and the second time because i want to go back and savor the details and the buildup of the plot. but with non-fiction, i already know the basic plot, so it's all about the interesting details.

After three viewings, let it be said that X2 continues to kick major butt. I'm already yearning for X3, and fulfilling this craving through massive amounts of Nightcrawler fanfiction. Ah, Alan Cumming, my heart beats. The first scene alone is worth the price of admission! Great performances all around. And with a cast that includes Alan Cumming, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, there's something for everyone! Except the screaming baby that was sitting next to me, arr. But yeah, X-Men 2. Go see it, if you haven't yet.

Something really fun to do: Read Bridget Jones' Diary and Pride and Prejudice at the same time. Hee! I love it!
