If in New York, you must see Urinetown. Utterly brilliant. Upbeat, fun music, coupled with a delightfully ridiculous plot. Hilarity.

Watch the movie Velvet Goldmine.
Because I said so.
okay, okay, so it's a great flick about the 70's glam rock era starring Ewan, Christian Bale, and John Rhys Meyers. And it kicks ass. The music is awesome, the film itself goes from funny to heart breaking, the colours and style they use kick ass, and Ewan gets to shag Christian Bale AND John Rhys Meyers!

some books:
coraline by neil gaiman. so, is there any chance that i would not recommend this book? not in this lifetime. smart, funny, and scarier than.. um... than... a bucketful of ladybugs.
smoke and mirrors also by neil. i finally finished this. i'd been trying to read it slowly, so as to make the joyousness last longer ^_^ but all good things must end. i heart this soooo much. all his stories are so well written... this book has a lot of scary ones (i'll never look at snow white the same way again *sob*) and some funny ones, and some poetry, and... argh. it's beautiful.
and the band played on by randy shilts. this book is long (621 pages) but worth it. it's a nonfiction look at the first 5 years of the aids crisis (1980-85.) but it's not boring, it reads almost like a novel- lots of interesting details about people involved. and it's such a tragic story- it's really shocking how much could have been prevented, and how much was accomplished by so few people. very good, very educational. in a good way ^_^
little altars everywhere by rebecca wells. sweet, sad, and funny. i didn't like it as much as i liked divine secrets of the ya-ya sisterhood, but it's still good. i'd read divine secrets first though, if i were you.
guards! guards! by terry pratchett. *frowl* priscellie went and got me hooked on another book seried. i hearted this book. it's very wry and funny, sorta douglas adams-esque. (although i heart douglas more. but that's another story.) a bit of llight, fluffy, highly enjoyable fantasy.
the prince by machiavelli. okay, so i didn't finish this yet. i'm on page 28 out of 37 ^_^ but do not go near this book if you can avoid it, unless you're having trouble sleeping.

Can I recommend Sebastian? Dude, Priscellie, if you get a chance to see RENT between now and Tuesday, snatch it up! This man is such an incredible Mark... ::hearts a lot:: ::falls over:: Plus, he's the sweetest person... ever. ::nodnods::
I need a life.

Okay, uh, I just realized I posted that in the wrong blog. But you should all go look at it anyway. ::nodnods::

Okay, so I'm going to *not* recommend seeing Reign of Fire unless you're either a big fan of dragons or a big fan of Christian Bale. It was a decent movie, but I don't think the public will be too fond of it. Very cliche, really shitty ending... yeah. But there are dragons and Christian Bale runs around shirtless. So. Yes.

Can I review a person? Because Neil Gaiman is my herd. As those who read my blog already know, I went to his NYC Coraline booksigning yesterday, and it was absolutely wonderful. Neil is one of those people you want to go up to and hug. He's witty and amusing and highly squee-worthy, plus he writes absolutely amazing books. What more could you want?
An exhaustive review is posted here in my LJ, and I'll be posting bits of transcript in my blog as time goes on. Hurrah!

so, midnight screening, road to perdition ... oh god, i can't even review it. it was an incredible film, and after seeing it i just want to sit down and cry. for hours. i cried all the way home. but like, i'm so glad i went to see it. just... incredible. if you have a day that you can devote soley to going to the movie and crying... i highly suggest you go see it.

okay hi. lilo and stitch was SO good. it was hilarious, and very cute, and i loved the animation. i went to see it with like 10 other people and they all loved it too. go. now.
men in black 2 was decent. it was pretty funny, and i didn't get bored with it. the best part of it was the two towers trailer, though. well, that and the dog singing "i will survive." heh ^_^ i'd prolly wait to rent it, though, unless you're really bored or something.
powerpuff girls: the movie was quite cute and funny. sad, though. *sniff* lots of bad, but vastly amusing puns... (i.e. townsville is overrun by monkeys... so obviously... "gorilla warfare!")
