Okay, I have some recs that I'll post later, but before I get to that, do any of you Frowlers have the new password for the new e-mail system? Because I don't and I can't get my mail and it makes me sad. ::sniff::

Oy I have not been here for so long!!!!!!! Ok and all you cool people are just reccomending all these smart movies..but not I! I am here to recommend Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back! YES! I loved this movie for all it's horrible jokes and hysterical antics. I heart Kevin Smith sooooo much. Can I just tell you all that??? SO yeah go rent it today! But if you have not seen all the other Kevin Smith movies......go rent them first well excpet for Dogma cause that doesnt really have anything to do with J&SB SB yeah. So go rent Clerks, Chasing Amy and Mallrats. Ok Mall rats is completely stupid but you have to see it to get J&SBSB. Oy ok I am shutting up now.

Except for how much did I love that Moby wore an "I heart Eminem" t-shirt on the finale of SNL. too cute.

Watched lots of good movies last night. ::nods:: First, my friends and I went to Blockbuster. They were having a Memorial Day sale, offering discounts if customers rented 3 videos, so after a ridiculous length of time spent trying to pick something out amongst the 3 of us, we picked "Stalag 17", "The Cell", and the new "Rat Race". Because Marcelina had her heart set on seeing "Harvey" (I heart Jimmy Stewart), we went to Premiere Video, an independent store, and chose "Harvey", "Happenstance" (I also heart Audrey Tautou), and "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen". Reviews shall follow.

Upon Marcelina's insistence, we watched "Harvey" first. This was good, as we worked out the day's hyperactivity by squealing over Jimmy Stewart. Jimmy Stewart is currently ranked first place on my "Person I would most like to give a really big hug" list. Cuteness abound! The story was highly amusing. Good stuff.
Rating: (3 Percys)

Next, "Stalag 17". A movie I had never heard of, but fabulous. Chungy tells me that aspects of "Chicken Run" are based on this movie, and I certainly concur. It's about a bunch of Americans in a Nazi POW camp, and it's absolutely hilarious. Very clever. Fun characters. Again, good stuff.
Rating: (3 1/2 Percys)

Afterwards, "Happenstance". I reiterate my love for Audrey Tautou (starred in "Amelie", for those less knowledgeable about French cinema). It felt a bit strange to see her in a different role, though. Awesome cinematography at some points.
Rating: (3 Percys)

After that, as it was 2AM, I was ready to go to sleep. However, Chungy and Marcelina convinced me to stay awake and watch "Baron Munchausen", a movie I had seen ages and ages ago and could barely remember. Directed by Terry Gilliam, including Eric Idle. The Pythons are Gods. A definite feast of a film. Highly recommended! (3 1/2 Percys)

Good stuff. If you get the chance to rent any of them, do so!

so... ep2. hm. i don't *think* this is really going to be spoil-y, but just in case..

you've been warned. so um. yeah, i liked it SO much more than tpm. tpm... ugh. thoughts:
~ jar jar sort of reminds me of bush. i could so see bush standing before congress and saying "mesa propose a bill!" but that's just me.
~ okay. so what's-his-name-anakin-actor and natalie portman are both foxy individuals. but damn, they're bad actors. i mean.. natalie is good in other things! but they have about zero chemistry. anakin used the same tone of voice and facial expression for like... everything. "i hate obi-wan." "i love you amidala." "i don't like sand." it was just SO annoying.
~ r2-d2 is soooooooooo cute. i love him. and it cracked me up in a major way when 3po's head got switched with a battle droid's. that was so classic.
~ yay obi-wan!
~ okay so boba fett... has anyone else read tales of the bounty hunters? and.. .hmm.. maybe it was the han solo trilogy? because... like... HA, now their fett-origin stories are wrong.
~ when obi-wan said "sometimes i fear you'll be the death of me..." that was SO classic. like woooot.
~ why aren't there any female jedi? *frowl*
~ those lightsaber battles were SO HELLA COOL.

waaaait! yes! oooh! i thought of something scrumtralescent i can recommend! The Draco Trilogy, by Cassandra Claire, even though i would assume any harry potter 'fic-ers would have already found this.... but i wanna express extreme love. the next chapter is due out veeeery soon. it had better be. i'm going crazy. this past spring it took me 8 days to finish it. it's way beyond novel length. each installment would be one of those offensively large stephen kind paperbacks with tiny print. and gaspity gasp, it's refreshinly non-slash. not that i have a problem with slash..... i can just never find good hp heterosexual lovin' when i need it.
you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll have an evil bake sale.

damn. i can't link to it on fiction alley. damn damn damn. well, go to schnoogle, fanfics by author, Cassandra Claire.

she also wrote the Very Secret Diaries. damn fine writer. on of the top 5 best fics i've read.

i'm alive.

my most profound apologies fro neglecting sgt.pepper. i stopped blogging period there for awhile. but am now settled at home.

nina, i'm a total dork. when the moondance popped up, i gasped and bounced. and i usually want to disembowel people who so much as cough during a movie.

being the star wars geek that i be, i blogged massive star wars review of sorts. with massive spoilers. if you want, i'll post it here.... but it's.... massive. really. if it's not, it will be, because i'm adding more tomorrow after i see it again for the third time.

oh, and the reason i never review anything is because i don't watch tv, i never read fiction books (and if i do, they're classics), i never see new movies(and the ones i do see for the first time are ones everyone else has always seen), and i really don't listen to *new* music. i stick to oldies but goodies.... soooo.... yeah.

Song recommendation: Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley. There's a version by Rufus Wainwright that good too, but they just played the Jeff Buckely one during the season finale of The West Wing and I was more than a little hysterical. ::sniffle:: Simon.... ::sob::

Don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but for some reason I was really saddened by TXF finale. Like, it's definetly time for the show to end. I know that. But I feel like I lost a part of me (as cheesy as that sounds). This was a big part of my life for the past nine years. I'm going to miss it.
::: frowled kaiters, at 10:56 PM

oh! ellie, i didn't even see that you posted that.... but um... i just uploaded the new layout ^_^

wheee... it's SO pretty. i heart you so much, priscellie.
::: frowled ~renata~ at 2:31 PM

Fellow Pepperlanders, does anyone object to the new layout? I can put it up this afternoon if you all like it. I'll need the frowl.org password, of course, being the honorary frowler.

::waves:: Haven't been around here in a while. Umm... also haven't seen Episode II. So. (I did watch the first twenty minutes of Bring It On last night, and it was slash-a-licious. I love that movie.) In other news, Davidolivercohen.net is now up and running. So, uh, humour me and go visit it. :-)

Back to working on my senior research project... somehow I must throw together a 20 minute presentation by Wednesday afternoon. ::sweatdrop::

Thursday, May 16, 2002 :::

I reiterate the Episode II love. And, I'd post my Obi-Wan rant/homage, but I don't want to spoil anyone. Suffice to say that I've loved Obi-Wan since I was six or seven and saw Sir Alec pull the hood down for the first time, and Ewan has become *so*perfect* in this role that I can't put it into words.

Anyways. Here's a fun link:

We Are Robots

Angrybot and Sad Robot are the best ^_^
::: frowled kaiters, at 9:49 PM

Episode II. Midnight showing. Hold me back, baby. The dialogue was lame and some characters' acting leaves a bit to be desired, but the eye-candy made it all worthwhile. ::drools:: I don't want to give anything away, but I'll just say that this movie had the audience cheering wildly. And now I sleep.

Tuesday, May 14, 2002 :::

I finally realized why Jake Lloyd was such a babyish, whiny, annoying wuss in Episode 1. He has to grow up to sire Mr. "I was going to go into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters". Like father, like son. Farmboys, the lot of them!
::: frowled Priscilla at 11:19 PM

I haven't even finished reading the introductions and prologues and such, but I know that in a few days, I will be vehemently recommending Salmon of Doubt, by Douglas Adams. After his death, people went through his computers and pieced together all sorts of tidbits, running the gamut from brief sketch ideas to massive chunks of the unfinished third "Dirk Gently" novel. Get your copy today!

it's already been said how much spiderman kicked all of our asses. so. i'm not going to reiterate it. (just saw it for the first time last nite) but. just wanted to know if anyone else caught the RENT reference in the movie? well, not exactly a RENT reference...but it was a bigtime RENT connection...come one, i know SOMEBODY did. i was wigging out when i saw it and colby (the guy with me) thought i was going insane. yeah. squee.

Saw Lucy Kaplansky last night.

Full report later today in my blog, but for now, I must say, go out and buy her CDs. She is amazing. Ten Year Night is the best, but... gah. She kicks so much ass ^^;;

Dude. Guess who just asked for and got permission to start davidolivercohen.net (since davidolivercohen.com is registered already, skankily enough)?

::bounces around excitedly:: At least there are some Collins cast members who recognize and appreciate fan's efforts. :-)

so like. spider-man was so freaking cool. i adore spider-man anyway, since he's such a... lovably nerdy superhero. and then tobey mcguire just rocks my socks. woot. the special effects were awesome (so blatantly ripped off of the matrix but it was nicely done.) willem dafoe was awesome as the green goblin. *thinks* yeah. it was just hella cool. go see it.
