Sunday, March 31, 2002 :::

I will post it here as well, as I have posted it in almost every other blog I post to:

I hereby resign as a fangirl.*

*estimated time this will last: 12 hours
::: frowled kaiters, at 11:59 PM

My friend Ingrid is writing her research paper on the development of Sam and Frodo's relationship. ::pause:: Yes, she's actually writing a paper on Hobbit!Slash. ::fangirlsquee::
::: frowled kaiters, at 11:55 PM

I so thought you said...."simple-like onions?" I was like huh? *wanders off confused*
::: frowled ~* Chelle at 11:52 PM

i hate this stupid, stupid thing.. and i'm going to go do homework now. *frowl* if anyone wants to change the template, or fix the archives.. or... tweak.. please do so ^_^

*continues to frowl at blogger*
::: frowled ~renata~ at 6:03 PM

oops... i broke the lonely hearts club blog... i was trying to fix the archives.. and.. yeah. whatever. soo.. then i changed the template. it's all... simple-like. opinions?
::: frowled ~renata~ at 5:49 PM

mrr. jay and silent bob strike back was funny. but not nearly as funny as i had hoped. the other 4 were better. which reminds me, if you haven't seen mallrats, clerks, chasing amy, or dogma... you need to ^_^

i finally saw the emperor's new groove and it was SO funny. of course part of that is probably just because i have a thing about llamas. (c'mon... say the word "llama" aloud... doesn't it just make you tingle? llllllama.) right. so. yes.

i wrote a paper about fotr. it was about the evolving relationship between frodo and aragorn. it took about 10 minutes to write but i got a 100% on it. *beams*

::: frowled kaiters, at 11:59 PM

I started reading FotR but I cant find it now. Like it is lost. Where oh where is my LotR book....oh where oh where could it be? hmmmm oh and YAY! for LotR winning the best make-up Oscar. Me being a future makeup artist I have to pay attention to these things.
::: frowled ~* Chelle at 11:57 AM

I just finished reading Fellowship of the Ring for the nineteenth time, and I can't stress enough how anyone who's seen the movie should read the book. It kicks so much ass ^_^ And, uh, hobbit!slash. Yes.

thank you renata I feel so loved now. I have read slaughterhouse-5 like a million years ago but not welcome to the monkey house. hmmmmm *rifles thru shelves* I know I have it here somewhere. Oh wait I still need to finish The Snow Garden and the 4th Harry Potter book. Maybe that is what I should be doing instead of blogging nonsense.
::: frowled ~* Chelle at 12:58 AM

Wednesday, March 27, 2002 :::

aww chelle.. i'll blog, just for you ^_^

hm. um. welcome to the monkey house by kurt vonnegut is now one of my alltime favorite books. actually, i love all of his books. but you should definitely read welcome to the monkey house. and slaughterhouse-5. but yeah, since i've read monkey house i keep having these dreams where humans have learned how to live outside their bodies... well, sometimes it's everyone... and sometimes it's just me. and it's sooo weird.

also, if you haven't read the his dark materials trilogy by phillip pullman... do so ^_^

and... nobody has given me any feedback about inviting non-frowlers to the lhcb, or if we should just keep it exclusive... so if nobody does within the next.. 3 days, i'm going to take it as a "no one cares" and invite ellie ^_^

woot.
::: frowled ~renata~ at 8:41 PM

i have not read the snow garden. i'm about to embark on reading frankenstein for the umpteenth time though. [convulses] maybe i'll just go rent kenneth branagh's movie version of it and drool over a shirtless kenneth in leather pants. woot.
::: frowled *nina* at 6:50 PM

ok I am gonna get a complex....I post and noone else does. *sob* someone post!

I so cant wait to see that. I think I am going to take my daughter to see it this weekend. She wants to take some friends to the movies for her b-day though and wanted to see that. We may wait on it and go see ET instead. YAY!
Anyone read Chris Rice's new book, The Snow Garden? It is kinda hard to get into at first but OMG I am so addicted to it now I can hardly put it down! So ummm yeah!

Monday, March 25, 2002 :::

two words: ice age. anyone see it? i rather enjoyed it...but then again, i have a 3 year old mentality. colby saw it as well and was not impressed. i'll even admit i almost cried at the end. almost.

watching it reminded me why i'm a vegetarian though. whooo! yeah talking animals!!! :)

Saturday, March 23, 2002 :::

OMG I am so old I saw it like 5 times in the theater when it first came out. I love ET! I am so taking my daughter to go see it. so yeah anyway! Thanx renata for reinviting me to blog here!
::: frowled ~* Chelle at 11:05 PM

i saw the et re-release last night... it's the first time i ever saw et. omb. it's SO SO good. i cried. if you're dorky like me and have never seen et, go! now! *cracks whip*
randomness: when et is watching teevee, one of the movies he watches is "this island earth"!! just the part where cal ("oh, carl!" "it's cal!" "oh cal!") and what'shername are in the plane, and the flying hat is taking them up, and cal is like "they're taking us up!" lol.
apparently, there used to be a line when the mom is like "i don't care if all the other boys are going as terrorists, you're not going! that's just stupid!" or something like that. but they changed it to "hippies". that pisses me off. what, like... we can't even SAY the word "terrorist" anymore without people getting offended? i mean, jesus! it's a movie that was made 20 years ago, everyone with 1/4 a brain KNOWS you're not making a reference to 9/11... and even if you WERE... it's not... like... gah. it just pisses me off. i mean, obviously it was a huge tragedy... but "let's never ever mention the words 'world trade center' or 'terrorist' ever, ever again, lest it offend someone!" i mean.. are people like "let's never mention the words 'jewish' or 'nazi' or 'germany' ever, ever again, in case it reminds someone of the holocaust!"? no! *frowl*

oh yeah, and jason.. speaking of yoda... i totally wanted to steal the awesome yoda costume that kid had in the trick-or-treating scene. that was the coolest.

Thursday, March 21, 2002 :::

yeah. so. i have things to review.
I liked Ghost World. it's amusing and quirky. and a lot like the comic book. go forth and rent.
I've rented "Bent". i guess it's about a gay guy that's sent to a concentration camp for being queer. he thinks if he claims jew, he'll be able to get out. or something. then i guess he falls in love with a gay guy there. i don't know because....... MY SET IS BROKEN. it's been gradually getting darker and darker, and now it's almost always black. and it flickers a lot. yes, i've fiddled with the brightness control. if one more person asks me that, my head is going to spin around. so.... yeah. i can HEAR people getting sucked off, but cannot see anything. that's no fun. so. i'll review the movie when i can SEE SOMETHING. if there are daytime scenes, i can kind of see them. too bad the other movie i rented was cabaret. i'm just full of nazi propaganda today.

aw. that's sad.

i think callista should come back, and she and mara should have a duel.

speaking of mara... why is she sick?

i get the feeling ellie has explained this to me before... but i doooon't remember.

::: frowled ~renata~ at 10:48 PM

chewie died by accident. han and his family were leaving the planet. he let anakin (solo) at the wheel of the MF. somehow chewie was still on this planet, and they HAD to lift off soon, because the planets was going to fry or explode or something. anakin chose to leave, saving them all, but leaving chewie to die. han was emotionally crushed, and this caused a rift between han and anakin that lasted a long time. i don't know how i know this...... i read it somewhere. not the book. but...... yeah. maybe that's not how it happened. feel free to correct me.

i think luke and mara got married in a trilogy of books. that's all i know.

Wednesday, March 13, 2002 :::

aww yeah, new bond movie! woot for pierce brosnan, as well! and john cleese! *squee*

i think the best bond title song was "tomorrow never dies" by sheryl crow. but if madonna is (possibly) making this one it could give tnd a run for its money. or it could suck.

yes. dude, where is everyone? there are 10 frowlers... but only 4 of us have actually posted... *sob*
::: frowled ~renata~ at 3:49 PM

W00t. The title of the new James Bond movie has been announced. Even though I know nothing about the plot, I'm sure that both Renata and I would reccommend seeing this movie. ^_^

News here.

the election of 1936 is my bitch!

i love me talk pretty one day soooo much. it's definitely one of my favorites. barrel fever is really funny too, but not as good as mtpod or naked. i'm on a big neil gaiman kick right now. and i intend to start reading pratchett soon so priscellie doesn't hunt me down.

btw, gang... can we invite some non-frowlers [i.e. ellie] to join the lonely hearts club blog? or should we keep it select, cuz we're sooo cool? oh... and is everyone cool with the fruit template, or does someone want to design a new one? i'm personally down with the fruit.. but a new layout is cool too. *nod*

anyway. right now i'm re-reading a star wars book i grabbed pretty much at random off the shelf... dark tide i: onslaught. it's really confusing the hell out of me... i think i missed a lot of books before it or somethng... like... when did chewie die? and when did luke and mara get married? and when did gavin become commander of rogue squadron? *flail flail*

~renata~

::: frowled ~renata~ at 11:12 PM

i need a bitch. that is all.

actually, that's not all. [wave] i can lend you me talk pretty one day if you want, del. when you come up and visit em and i or something. 'cause it's a damn good read. i'm bringing along barrel fever with me when i go to missouri...i don't think it can compare to good ol' me talk pretty though.

i was listening to liza minelli too! only in cabaret. which i listen to when i'm feeling all skanky/slutty. it's great. [vamps] did i ever mention that i used to want to be a fosse dancer? i think that's why i never lasted long in ballet...my instructor HATED fosse with a violent passion. and i was like, dude, you suck. [nod nod] or something to that effect.
::: frowled *nina* at 5:44 PM

Oh, when I got House of Leaves, I went all HoL'd out...got the book, got the companion book, The Walestoe Letters, and I also picked up Poe's CD, Haunted. There's a song in it, Not A Virgin, that y'all should see if you can download and listen. AND THEN DELETE IT IMMEDIATELY, cuz d/l music to keep is WRONG! ^_^

-Harold, now known as Del's Bitch, tee hee
::: frowled Mimi Marquez ^_^ at 3:54 PM

*raised eyebrow and come hither eyes for harold* no one can resist my feminine wiles. mrow.

i had typed "jason the gay dog", but that seemed kind of malicious, so i refrained. but i meant dog in a totally wonderous way.

you know what? I've listened to Liza Minelli's "Maybe This Time" three times in a row. go. listen. now.
what i wouldn't do for her voice. or her mother's. and her charisma.

I put "Me Talk Pretty One Day" or whatever on my amazon wish list. but, like...... i'm too lazy to actually go buy it. i CAN'T buy any new books, because i have a History of Paganism book, Aristotle shit, a couple books on eastern faiths, AND a walt whitman collection that i bust out every now and then to read, before i go out and distract myself with the lord of the rings set and david sedaris. every time i go to crack aristotle, i see harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban, or On The Road by Jack Kerouac, and i say 'fuck aristotle".

::: frowled Del at 3:23 PM

house of leaves is wicked scary. [shudder] but excellent. i remembe reading each installment of it before it was published...the guy who wrote it is brother to poe (she did a cover of "angry johnny" back in the day that was really popular). and poe rocks. [nod nod]

b-b-but...i thought harold was a DOG!!!! [sobs] i'm so confused!!! *flail*
::: frowled *nina* at 1:28 PM

Bwahahaha, I'm the only boy! *giggle* But just a reminder grrlz, I'm gay. So no seducing me, okies?

I think everyone should read House of Leaves, it's wacky.
::: frowled Mimi Marquez ^_^ at 11:44 AM

ay ay, captain. where do we begin?

i would also like to state the following:
- david sedaris is a fookin' hysterical genius.
- peggy lee has the most gorgeous voice EVER for a white woman singing jazz
- raspberry sorbet popsicles by haagen daaz rocks my sushi stand
- sally taylor's "tomboy bride" is an adorable song (she's the daughter of james taylor and carly simon). it reminds me of liz phair's "polyestor bride" for some reason.
- do not wait till midnite the day of to start an 8 page paper that's due at 5pm. [sigh]

*goofy salute*

so, i'd like to rant that my ice cream melted.

::: frowled Del at 10:19 PM

test one two three...

anything but that!

anyway... i just read neverwhere by neil gaiman and it was SO good. i need to read his other books... like.. NOW. it's like... a semi-wry.. fantasy book.. with a protaganist not unlike arthur dent of hgttg. i couldn't put it down. (i just read the history of glue... i couldn't put it down...) anyway... yeah. it was fabulous. go read it.

also, my friend made me watch boys and girls today. it is evil. flee from it.
