so, i just got back. and i feel like i should review, since it was my first large concert experience. and i feel like i should record it. even though i know there are no blink/green day/saves the day fans around here.

i have loved green day for so long. but dude. they're good live. i realize i have nothing to compare it to. but it was funny, entertaining, and well-paced. a large pink bunny came onstage, drank some beer, and took a hit from a steamroller. it was amusing. billie joe came onstage later, put his hand in his pants, and pretended to pleasure himself. loudly. which i found *really* funny. they played Hitchin' A Ride, She, King For A Day, Burnout, Longview, Welcome to Paradise, Basket Case, Come Around, Minority and a couple songs form the new CD, That Godzilla Song That I Forgot The Title To, and, of course, Good Riddance. i also want to add that they're effects were not too flashy. they had a little pyro, nice lights, and some cool backdrops. it was classy, though. i fucking loved it.

so. blink. man. i'm saddened. we agreed to give them the first 4-5 songs, and if they were bad, then we'd leave. because we were on the lawn, we were wet and hungry and tired, and my friend had already seen blink. the first few songs didn't go well. at all. i think Mark noticed, because he said something like "mediocrity is our middle name. blink mediocrity 182. we're going to give you a mediocre show tonight, guys. *points at Tom* This man is the example of what not to do the night before the concert!" apparently Tom was hungover and having a hard time of it..... and he did look really sick. they played Dumpweed and Rock Show, which i was happy about, but i HATE What's My Age Again, so we left. what irked me: they had so much pyro. flames everywhere. lights flashing. now, if i was in the pit, i would have died. but i wasn't. and they looked stupid because they were coming on after Green Day, playing a shitty show, but with all these effects. i would have stayed if i had been in the pit or something, and the fans weren't so shrill.

btw...... we came in at the end of Saves The Day's set, and they were surprisingly good.

who's sick of this shit-ass connection?

*raises hand* I AM! i'm sick and tired of explorer randomly not working. and pages taking 5 minutes to load. and restarting.

[/rant]

that said. an unnamed good friend of mine almost OD'ed on friday night. this mystery man had whiskey, beer, roughly 4 ounces of coke, a few diet pills, some muscle relaxers, and possibly some pot. i am so sick of drug abusers. a little moderate experimentation is passable with me. but when people won't admit they have a problem. lord.

i like Holst's Jupiter. nay, i love it. i could listen to it all day. i'm not much of a Mars fan. sorry. i'm in a very symphonic mood tonight. oooh, someone help me out and tell me what that song is that they play on the Beef: It's What's For Dinner commercials. if you can tell me the composer, song, and movement, i will seriously send you something.

Les Mis is something i will never tire of.

i realized that i fit in nowhere in the HP fandom. i don't like 99% of HP slash. i don't like 99% of anime**. i'm not friendly. i don't like twisting the canon. i don't really advocate any pairings of characters to a frightening degree. i secretly favor Draco/Hr and Harry/Hr..... you know why. but shhhh. i'm objective. really. last night i re-read CoS to get re-aquainted with the story. since i didn't even remember how Ginny was involved. heh. and decided that i don't really like GoF. i mean, i do...... it was really suspenseful while i was reading it. but the whole Triwizard Tourney didn't really interest me. and i have intense dislike for Fleur. stupid tart.

i really do need to create a template. i'm fairly sure i could do it if i had someone there to hold my hand and give me muffins.

**Del's Official View On Anime: while i appreciate it and recognize it as art, and even enjoy watching/reading some of it, i do not appreciate everyone and their brother forsaking actual illustration talent for anime-style. and the soliciting it to me. because everyone's faces look the same. everyone's hair has the same 'texture'. and this bothers me. they basicly wear different clothes and have different hair. and i know this is also the case with american illustration and animation, but not as much so. and i certainly have my issues with that also. i'm just sick of looking for a credible, interesting interpretation of Draco or Hermione, and getting Anime!Draco, wearing black clothes and looking sulky. and Anime!Hermione (who's face has EXACTLY the same shape as Ginny's), holding books and kissing Anime!Harry, who's body is exactly the same as Draco's. i do not forsake people who *do* have bundles of artistic talent..... like Annie...... who do credible illustration. i just favor realism and american illustration over anime.
