listening to: bob dylan, all along the watchtower (unplugged)

dude, bob dylan is like.. always unplugged. well, usually. ah well.

couldn't sleep at all last night. tried for awhile, and then i went downstairs and watched daria, and looked unsuccessfully for some tylenol pm. then i put away the dishes, and then i upgraded some of mom's software. and then i tried to install my scanner but it went all spoggly. (see, i'm so much more productive when i'm insomnia-ing.)

fortunately, the kitty was very understanding throughout all of this, and she followed me around all night, and then fell asleep on my feet. good kitty.

anyway, have to work like.. all friggen day. 2-10. (nchs and ncwhs graduation. *frowl*) oh well, money is v.g.

dude! add taco html edit to the list of things that are my bitch. omg, i'm so in love with this software, i can't believe this is freeware. (or that i'm spending my friday night blogging about something called "taco html edit". i'm cool.) but seriously, it's great. it's like notepad, in as much that it is an html editor, not a wysiwyg, but it automatically color-codes tags for you, which makes it so much easier to follow things, and... wow. plus it has preview functions for 5 different browsers, and... *drools* so, i forsee some minor updating of boron soon. hopefully a new layout (eventually), but right now i'm tweaking the about me (i mean, "strange little girl") page, and i need to update the links frame and suchlike.

the only downside is that its icon is this amazingly detailed little taco, and it always makes me hungry. (i'm not joking. this is one good-looking taco. it's got meat, and cheese, and sour cream, and lettuce and tomatoes.. and.. oh, never mind.)

bored. tired. felt icky earlier. went to the doctor for my grinnell physical and got so effing carsick on the way home. gah. so i slept for awhile, and then i talked to trina ("hey renata? did i wake you up? oh. well, i was just thinking about how in scream, when randy dies? that is so unfair.")

i love trina.

hmm. really interesting list. some stuff i'd expect, some i wouldn't (although i do adore good omens, would not have expected that one to be there...). and then like.. i think i've read every single roald dahl book (and have them still, coveting a hefty portion of my bookshelf) except for the twits and the bfg.

so yeah. maybe a summer goal. well you know, some of those books i have no desire to read. like i know i really should read war and peace. (and in fact have a copy that i received for my 1st birthday...) but i hated anna karenina more than life itself. and dammit, i'm not reading any more tolstoy until i have to. bleah!

listening to: beatles, penny lane

random amusing quotes: "oh! a SHAM marriage? well, that's alright! that's great! a sham marriage is so much better.."
"renata!"
"well, for those two!"

"mm, strawberry pie"
"that's so healthy!"
"it's PIE!"

whee, just got off the phone with megan! (meagna, not megarrrn ^_~) and, she wants to come visit mee. yay! *hearts megan*

last night was much fun. hung out with people at miriam's house, played some hardcore trivial pursuit ^_^ then i left, and had birthday pie with megan, michelle, jesse and eliz. yay, pie! and then i left again, and this time i dragged michelle back ^_^ went back to miriam's, caught the end of trivial pursuit, and sat/stood/leaned around and talked. (dear god, we're catty people when we're bored.)

hmm. oh, and i got a graduation card from my aunt and uncle today that amuses me more than life itself. it was such a welcome relief from the piles of "follow your dreams!" stuff that's been piling up. (um, no offense to anyone who may or may not have sent me such a card. but this one is better.) on the front, there's a graduate standing on top of the world, looking at the night sky, and it says "congratulations-- you survived high school and even managed to graduate." and then on the inside, it says "you have done well, young one, but you are not a jedi yet."

bwahahaha i'm a nerd.

my evil is so much cooler than priscilla's evil.

**** THE PROOF THAT Renata IS EVIL ****

R E N A T A
18 5 14 1 20 1 - as numbers
9 5 5 1 2 1 - digits added
\_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_____/
9 5 5 1 3 - digits added

Thus, "Renata" is 95513.

Add 0791 to it - this is the year IBM announced S/370, written backwards - you will get 96304.

Add 6861 to it - this is the year Newton published wildly misunderstood "Principia", written backwards - you will get 103165.

Add 8691 to it - this is the year Martin Luther King was shot to death, written backwards - you will get 111856.

Turn the number backwards, subtract 1 - the number of unity . The number is now 658110.

Turn the number backwards, divide by 6 - the smallest perfect number. The number is now 1976.

The number 1976 is the year George Harrison performed the lumberjack song with Monty Python - if you have seen it, you should understand.

This clearly proves how evil the subject is. QED.

get your own evil.

~ mtco
~ airport (kind of)
~ the yukon trail (kind of)
~ carmen sandiego's great chase through time

however, the following things are still not my bitch:
~ safari 2.0
~ taco html edit

which reminds me... i want a taco. dammit.

whee. *swivels* trina and miriam and i were going to watch pocahontas today, but instead we got distracted and just watched teevee.

the story of our lives.

then miriam and i went to the mall, and i got jazzy flip-flops, and ice cream was consumed. mmm. also, stopped at liberry and picked up the eyre affair, the house on mango street, and, um, the yukon trail. (yes, i'm an educational software junkie. i admit it.) priscellie: i'm only about 2 pages into eyre, but i'm v. intrigued by the concept. forsee addiction. huzzah!

... or at least, wait for someone to call me. ^_^

i meant to do this ages ago, when kait first posted it. but i didn't get around to it. um.

but i will now. soon.

i was oddly productive today. went to the post office and got a money order (i won the original [okay, not the original, but an earlier version] carmen sandiego on ebay last night for $3.75). and then i called mtco and switched our internet provider. noo more trianglenet of doom! (odd fact: thetard owns trianglenet. this automatically makes it evil. *shudder* not to mention the random disconnects and the DOOM and all.)

so anyway.

If my life were a TV show -

It would be in Season: 4. it would have started freshman year, but there would be the occasional flashback to 8th grade (and beyond.)

It would be broadcast at: 8:30 pm on friday nights. (before kait's show ^_^)

]My favourite character would be: hmm. ms. scott. heh. i'd be sort of amused by myself, because of my random one-liners, but i'd probably be upset by my lack of visible emotional development. i'd like the episodes where del or megan visited, because of their madcap antics.

My least favourite character would be : rebecca. but she'd have to be in the show, you know, just because.

I would ship: matt/trina, they're so cute. i'd be sickened by molly/andrew, i'd probably decry them as unrealistic. i'd be annoyed by rob's drama. i might dabble in renata/nathaniel or miriam/mike because opposites attracting has a certain charm.

I would slash: reijo/nathaniel, because that would be adorable. mike/ashvin, because the two most homophobic characters falling in love with each other builds the kind of angst that fics are made of. renata/someone, because i'd probably end up being written as ambiguously bi.

I would write fanfic about: trina's secret inner thoughts. an after-college reunion. everyone getting snowed in together.

I would write AUs in which: genderswap! and crossovers galore: with kait's show, with x-men, with harry potter, possibly with x-files if i could come up with a plausible cause...

I would watch the show: i'd probably have it recommended to me by someone midway through the first season. watch it religiously for a few years, get busy with stuff and forget to tape it for awhile. then i'd hear about the finale and become nostalgic and dig out the old tapes.

blah. felt sooo icky today. nearly tore apart the house looking for dayquil. finally found the last 2 capsules. it was a bit embarrassing, i felt like a junkie. then i lay in bed for awhile feeling sorry for myself. and then the drugs kicked in, and i felt better. i put my shoes in pairs and lined them along my dresser. *beams*

things i should accomplish sometime in the next... well, before college?
~ install scanner
~ update otgar, and also answer all the emails that people have sent me and i've very carefully read and sorted into another folder and then ignored.
~ redesign boron. i almost considered reviving the carmen layout, because i looove it so, but i think i'd rather have something new. i have a few ideas kicking around in my head. unfortunately, i'm currently without any sort of graphic editing software. i think some came with my scanner, though. so that'll have to come first.
~ lots of books i want to read.

*whines* life is SO hard! there's nooo more dayquil and also nooo ice cream. not that i was really expecting there to be any ice cream, but i waaant some.

also, i've already beaten carmen sandiego. grrr. feel slightly ripped off; you could keep playing the old carmen for as loooong as you wanted to. but now this one is done. i wish it would've gone on longer. and there was no real sense of closure at the end. like, you found the stupid treasure, and then carmen mocked you, and then she did this whole ninja vanish thing. and then the chief called and said that there was a new big case, and then the credits rolled. *sulks*

also, i thought i liked diet cherry coke, but this tastes really gross. gaah life is so hard.

*sigh* oh! and does anyone have need of an hp 25 color print cartridge? my mom bought one by mistake, and reid ripped the box open, and we can't return it. yeah. i can't find the part of the box that says what kind of printers it's good for, but i beleeeeive it's early hp deskjets? (like, 600 or lower?) i know deskjet 550 for sure, because that's why she bought it (she got deskjet 550 and 5550 confused) so yeah. check on that.. and let me know, because we don't want it to go to waste. and everyone needs color printer cartridges. right.

oh my darwin, i totally forgot to post what was arguably the highlight of my day!! trina and i dug out her old wayside math book, and we were looking at it... and apparently as kids, neither of us bothered to read the instructions... because you're not supposed to be able to SOLVE wayside math!! only convert it to numbers!! like, with
elf +
elf
.. you're not supposed to be able to figure out that it equals "fool"! gaah!!
no wonder matt said it was easy!! (well, okay, i still wouldn't call it easy.. but possible, yes.)

so we were both very happy about this. but also kind of disappointed, because we thought there was some sort of ultimate secret to be able to add letters or something. alas.

watching: adult swim, home movies

this show is weird, man.

weird.

not that that's bad.

let's see. i played some more where in the world is carmen sandiego?. it's addictive. it's all crazy and new... like, in the old ones it was just an endless series of catching henchmen... but this is crazy and new and almost like an rpg. like, it's not just asking questions and figuring out countries.. it's a lot more looking around and solving puzzles and stufff. and it's this ongoing quest- carmen keeps stealing this little round dealies from different countries, and it's some.. like.. um, i don't know. and your two "partners" are this one chick who used to work with carmen and she brings it up every 5 seconds ("oh! india! carmen and i went to india once!") and this rookie who has all these neato gadgets. um, yeah. it's fun. i recommend it. if you're into that sort of thing. (and who isn't?)

anyway. went to megarrrn's party today!! yay! *hearts megan* good times and chicken wings had by all. (except katie, who only had good times.) then, miriam and i went to barnes and noble, where i spent $90, but now have graduation gifts for all. well, not all, but everyone that i wanted to get one for. yay for books! (i bought my friends a different favorite book of mine, because i like to spread the love. and if you didn't get a book, it's not because i don't love you, but because i'm poor. and i already spent $90 on books. sheesh. or it could just be because you didn't graduate from uhigh in the last week. that could be it too. or it could just be that i haven't given it to you yet, because i only bought them 2 hours ago. right.)

then, we went to trina's house and watched a disney channel original picture (yay!) this one was... umm.. right on track i think? it was about these chicks who did drag races. yeah. goodtimes. (trina and miriam and i have a looong tradition of watching disney channel original movies. *sniff* it's been so long since our last one.)

sooo tired. went to every possible graduation party today. okay, technically there were a few more i could have gone to. but shut up. i'm sick. gaah. miriam and my graduation party was the best ever, though. woot! we played some hardcore freedom ball, and just about eeeveryone we invited came, and it was much fun. everyone else's party was good too. umm. i thought i had a lot to say about this. but apparently i don't really. i really like reading my party memory boook, because everyone said nice things about me ^_^ (well, except nathaniel, and hey, you get what you pay for. or something. um.) and, matt gave me a supercool painting he painted and i heart it (and matt) muchly. aww.

and, trina gave me pocahontas on dvd and miriam gave me mallrats and i want to go watch both of them! *flail* but i also want to sleep. for a long long time. but i think that i will start writing the enormolous pile of thank you notes that await me.

hmm. well guys, you're officially reading the blog of a graduate of university high school. *flourishes* tooo bad graduating just made me feel like a big re-re... contradictory to alphabetical order, i was friggen front row center (on account of the top 10 being in the front row *frowl*) and i spent the entire ceremony trying to fix my collar. (many, many hearts to elizabeth for saving the day with her bobby pins!) i mean.. no one noticed, apparently. which is good. but still. and then, i walked around the table instead of like.. all the way around all the chairs.. and i got all confused and felt stupid. whatever. it's done now! yay!

so after that, went to ryan's party. sat around and watched the o'reilly factor, because nathaniel had the remote. left early. received a delightful phone call from jason (aka harold the wonder dog) on my way home. among our many topics of conversation: carmen sandiego vs. pirates, carmen sandiego as a pirate, carmen sandiego/oregon trail crossovers ("she's the one who stole your clothes!"), pirate mimi vs. horse mimi, x-men 90's cartoon vs. x-men: evolution, x-men 90s: x-men comicverse as horse mimi: rent?.. and so much more. (hi, we're nerds.)

today.. need to leave soon, and definitely shouldn't be wasting time blogging. that's okay. blogging is a necessity. or something. yeah. full day of graduation partying ahead of me: first amanda's, then reijo's, then steve's, then me and miriam's (3-6 pm at the small ash/anderson park pavilion if you somehow didn't get an invitation! you're allll invited!), then tony's, and theeen michelle's. woot. hopefully my headache will be gone...

hmm. feel much better now. however, do not think that i will bother to drive into town, although a night of crazy bowling fun does sound fab... it's been awhile since i spent a happy night alone. (well, ish. at home, anyway.) also, mum gave me my graduation gift a night early... not only did i get where in the world is carmen sandiego? but also carmen sandiego's great chase through time! wooooot! (and a spongebob watch.) also, my uncle scott randomly dropped by and i'm sitting here listening to him tell hilarious stories with my mom. so yeah. plus, i fear my stupid stomach bug/nauseous/stupid thingie will come back randomly, and i won't have my nice cozy bed to crawl pitifully into.

so anyway.

"yeah! me and renata could live together for eternity! we'd just watch the simpsons and make fun of x-men: evolution!"

whee. first order of business: does anyone rock harder than priscellie? i vote no, as evidenced by this. (although she'd rock even harder [harrrrder] if she invited me to join it ^_^) i looove the "powered by blogarrrr", that's sheer genius, my friend. sheer.

i'm so tired. gah. senior trip yesterday was awesome, you should have come if you didn't, um. and you're a senior. at u-high. which knocks most of you out of eligibility. but that's okay. six flags was great, cos it was a beaaautiful day out but there were so few people that there were hardly any lines. (well, we had to wait an hour for batman.. but c'mon, it's batman! an hour is short!) so yeah, it was great. and then we went to union station, and ate dinner at hooter's... which was much fun. and they had this store called beatles for sale, and i about died. it was the best store ever. but allll i bought was a bumper sticker that says "give peace a chance", and then another one for talia that says "5th beatle". i showed so much self-restraint in that store. go me. and.. yeah. it was just much fun. i heart my friends.

today: finally saw matrix: reloaded! yaaaaaaaaaaay! *dances*

then, went to reid's 8th grade graduation... met up with amanda and reijo, who also have 8th grade siblings.. we ended up at baker's square and ordered a whole lemon meringue pie, and ate the whole thing. doh. i ate nothing with any nutritional value whatsoever today. no, that's a lie... i ate some cereal for breakfast (circa 1 pm). with strawberries! and milk! and then, some popcorn, and lots of pie.

and, we met up with tj and tony, and went to wal-mart, and goodtimes were had. and i'm tired and have to get up early to go kickboxing.. so, i'm off. but i thought if i went two days without blogging you guys might think i was dead or something, because really, when was the last time i missed a day of blogging? ^_^

my dad thinks it's the height of hilarity to wander around singing this song, except he says "kick him in the bum now" instead of... um... whatever the actual words are. oh, instead of "shoot him in the back now". yeah.

*stretches* finally saw bowling for columbine last night! woot! then, went to steak n' shake. i swear, hanging out with miriam and steve is like hanging out with particularly protective parents. ("renata! why are you taking tylenol?" "are you okay?" "how many have you already had?" "gah! i haven't had any! leave me alone!" "no, tell me what's wrong!" "are you just taking tylenol because you're addicted?" "*gasp* steve! take it away from her!" "oh, for the love of..")

listening to: the buggles, video killed the radio star

rummaging through some old software.. came across oregon trail 1.2! and it was mac compatible! *flails joyously* so i played some rockin' frowl oregon trail, with me, ayano, megan, priscilla, and kait. and now, i'll share some random excerpts from the trail log, because it amuses me.

March 1, 1848
You started down the trail with 6 oxen, 10 sets of clothing, 100 bullets, 1 wagon wheel, 1 wagon axle, 1 wagon tongue, 400 pounds of food, and $60.00.
"wagon tongue" has always sounded weird to me. it would be cute if wagons had real tongues. well, maybe not, because they'd probably always be trying to lick you and stuff.

Kait has a broken arm.
You decided to rest for 5 days.
April 12, 1848
You decided to continue.
poor kait. still, no sense wasting time...

April 15, 1848
You decided to continue.
You chose to ford the river.
1 member of your wagon drowned.
Your wagon tipped and you lost 1 ox, 3 sets of clothing, 1 wagon wheel, 1 wagon axle, 29 pounds of food, and 12 pounds of perishable food.
You decided to continue.
stupid jerky trail log, it didn't even give her name! *sniff* it was ayano, btw. so it goes. we buried you, though! but apparently that wasn't exciting enough news to make the trail log.

April 18, 1848
A farmer helped you with a sick ox.
this, however, was.

May 5, 1848
Kait is well again.
happy cinco de mayo, kait! arrrriba!

May 9, 1848
A thief stole 6 sets of clothing from your wagon.
dude, this means we're all NAKED! *giggles*
You decided to continue.
well, time waits for no man, after all. besides, it's a covered wagon...

May 13, 1848
Kait is suffering from exhaustion.

June 8, 1848
An ox is sick.
stupid ox.

Megan has the measles.
You have reached Grande Ronde in the Blue Mountains.
You decided to rest for 5 days.
i wonder, if renata got sick, would it have said "you have the measles" or "renata has the measles"? because everything else is 2nd person. hmm.

August 5, 1848
Priscilla has a fever.
Megan is well again.
the unwritten law of oregon trail: only one person can be sick at a time. it's a bizarre relay.

August 11, 1848
Priscilla has a broken leg.
No water.
priscilla, you clumsy slut!

August 20, 1848
You decided to continue.
You decided to raft down the Columbia River.
You made it to the Willamette Valley.
4 people arrived in good health.
Your Score = 6,276
dude, when i was little i could never raft down the river! i always hit a rock and drowned at least one person. go me! *does victory dance*

omb. back from tick, tick... BOOM! which was, to quote the barenaked ladies, "a m and azing like thelonius monk". that is all i will say about that here; i'll sgt. pepper later. (and i mean it this time, not like all those other times when i say i'm going to sgt. pepper but then i don't. and i really enjoy using "sgt. pepper" as a verb. it brings me joy.) but. ran into emily there! haven't seen emily in soo long! *flails* and, it was at the shubert. i love the shubert so, so much. the whole area around it reminds me of chicago '01, which was definitely one of the best rushes ever. *sigh of contentment*

also, i bought a t-shirt. i have a serious addiction to theatre memorabilia. it's out of control. *smacks table* like, seriously.. i'm so cheap when it comes to clothes, but stick a show logo on it and suddenly i'll spend $25 on it. oh well, there are worse addictions, like heroin or celine dion.

um. yeah. then, went out for dinner with grandparents. relatively uneventful. plan on spending the rest of my saturday evening at hoome. probably will go to bed early, most likely will dig out some old txf tapes. possibly will consider cleaning room. (most likely no.)

delicious.

(oh yes. and i must just say that the heartland graduation was the largest gathering of white trash [white trash comes in all races, incidentally] i've ever seen. dear lord. and of course i was section supervisor so i had to deal with the crazy "my daughter's father is NOT welcome here!" people. but mustn't dwell, not on rex manning day!)

listening to: john barry orchestra, james bond theme

class night was... hmm... well, better than i expected. it was vastly improved, however, by talia and justin and i randomly quoting teen girl squad. "msg'd!!"

i felt weird, like i should have been crying. but i just... didn't feel sad. i don't know. and i mean i've always been much more affected by fiction than i have by reality. i'm not sure why. maybe because i know i exert some sort of nominal control over reality, whereas with fiction i'm just along for the ride... but yeah. to me, it's just like... the thing i'll miss most about u-high will be the people, and i'll see all of them this summer. ("miike! i'll never see you again ever! so, what are we doing after class night?") and there's lots of stuff i won't miss about u-high, and now i'm done with it. whatever.

after that, we went to molly's house... and had much fun. like, we started playing this card game, but then we got bored and started passing the cards around with our toes. and then we started playing pictionary, but then we got bored and started playing charades with the pictionary cards. matt and i kept acting out the really impossible ones, and refusing to quit until someone guessed it.. so we did stuff like "taiwan", "chile", "noodle", "grizzly bear"... (the bear part was easy, it was getting someone to say "grizzly" that took forever..) yeah. goodtimes.

and, i just realized that i have to work tonight, so i can't see forever plaid. boo-urns. and futhermore, i'm seeing tick tick boom! tomorrow (yay!) but i can't see plaid then, either. *frowls* i mean.. i did see it.. twice.. last year... but i wanna see it again! maybe... we'll get back in chicago in time to see it? *thinks* it starts at 2... it's about.. 2 hours... i think? plaid starts at 7:30... soo... hmm. hey, maybe!

anyway. i have to go be miriam's tool and help her with captains stuff, even though i'm not a member of captains. and school is over. alas. but that's okay, because i heart miriam. and it's not like i have anything better to do. ah, the truth hurts. (and priscilla: the play was called catholic schoolgirls. yes. and, i didn't get cast, which is good, because i only auditioned because kellie told me to. yes.)

off for real, now.

listening to: beatles, when i'm 64

random amusing quotes: "ha! we win! that means that women are inherently weaker!"
"yeaaah well, you smell!"

"if i ever own a restaurant, i'm definitely having a rule that if you ask for your drink's free refill to be of pizza, you can have it."

last night was goodtimes... kellie persuaded me and eliz and miriam to audition for... *tries to remember title* .... a play about nuns. yes. and it was funtimes. but then we had to leave early because we were supposed to meet ashvin at 7, and he had apparently been sitting alone at monical's for sometime... so yeah. monical's was much fun. woot.

then, we played some rockin' tribond back at miriam's house. i ruuuule at tribond, except for the sports questions. well, and some of the entertainment ones. but.. i rule at the academic questions, and the riddles. *nod*

went kickboxing with miriam this morning, then we went to ihop.. and she went to play frisbee golf with assorted people, and iii went home and napped.

oh! but before i forget to add to the ongoing chronicle of my geekiness... last night, i dreamed that i was watching an episode of the x-files and it was suuuch a good episode. (unfortunately, it only exists in my head, and i can't remember any of the details.) but it was just really, really good. and, then it was to be continued and i woke up. life's so hard.

listening to: jill sobule, pilar (things here are different)

random amusing quote: "i'm going to the library to BURNINATE a cd!"

.... most of the r.a.q.s are me. it makes me feel bad sometimes, but you know what, i just find myself very entertaining on occasion. aanyway.

last daaay. um. yeah. won an award at the awards ceremony dealie, which made me feel all warm and fuzzy. aww. it was the "critical thinking" award. ("the recipient of this scholarship has demonstrated a spirit of inquiry and critical thinking.") and, i don't know, it made me really happy. i guess... critical thinking and stuff... is something that i want to have. and before they announced my name, they read the nomination, and it was like... "questioning attitude, not influenced by peer pressure... and she spearheaded the simpsons history presentation!" which amused me. and also made me feel further warm and fuzzy, cos then i knew ms. scott had nominated me for it.. and... she's someone i respect a looot so the fact that she respects me too... is good. (and i went and talked to her, and she said that dr. lilak had also nominated me, along with "some other people". which is also good, because dr. lilak rocks too. and.. um.. other people, i suppose. *scratches arm*) plus, i get $1000. woo!

um. enough about my ego. *pats ego* taaalia got an integrity scholarship! which i think is good, because talia is the most.. um... integritous? integr..al? integrity..licious person i can think of. go talia! and megan got 2nd place brome, but i think she should have gotten first. because i said so. but 2nd is still amazing. and.... what else? eliz got the social sciences student of the year! go eliz! and amanda got like.. all of the orchesis awards. yay amanda! and... well, stuff.

senior brunch was interesting.

ultimate frisbee afterwards was better! especially because all the girls were barefoot and in dresses!

oh, and then i was taking reid home, and i was all distracted getting his guitar and his wheelchair in the car, and he left his book and pencil case on top of the car... we made it pretty far before either of them fell off... which was really confusing. ("what was that noise?!" "um.. you ran over a bottle" [there was no bottle! i did not hit a bottle! *hisses at reid*]) so, yeah. we just kept going, and then eventually some car is ahead of us at a stop sign, and she honks and flails.. and then she gets out, and is like "there's a book on your car! and something fell off!" so.. we had to turn around, and i had to go get his stupid pencil case, which was in the middle of college... and i was still wearing a dress and heels... and... yeah. grr. it was interesting. but mission accomplished. woo.

listening to: white stripes, little room

random amusing quotes: "it's croquet (crock-it), not croquet (cro-kay)! we're not frenchies!"
"no... it's freedom ball!"
"hit it through the liberty hoops!"
"you have to hit the preemptive strike stick before you win!"
"it's world peace and freedom ball!"
"and they're not wickets, they're spheres of influence!"

"you can't do wayside math! wayside is impossible!"
"i can too! i'll show you tomorrow!"
"no! you won't! because it's not real and you can't do it!"

somehow my homepage got set to "http://i/". as is to be expected, this is a 404. hmm.

yeah. if you missed ap history croquet today... well, my friend, you missed out. it was goodtimes. and ap euro dominated apush. no thanks to me and brad, who came in dead last... but nonetheless. it rocked. oh, and nick and i decided that we aren't dorky enough yet, so we want to learn to play dungeons and dragons.

("hmm.. who do we know that can play d&d?"
"i bet dan [w] knows how."
"hmmm..."
"hey dan! do you know how to play dungeons and dragons?"
"um.. yes.. actually.."
"eeexcellent..."
)

so dan said he'd teach us over the summer. *nod*

oh! and, and, matt says he can do wayside math. *frowl* and this sparked this huge debate between matt, and everyone whose childhoods were ruined by wayside math. because we're all bitter because wayside math made us feel stupid as kids, because it's IMPOSSIBLE, and matt's all like "it's easy, i'll show you!" so yeah. back me up here guys... wayside math is saaaaaatan.

it's so weird that today was my last full day of high school. seriously, wtf? completely has not sunk in yet. i think i have arthur dent syndrome. i'll try narrowing my spectrum... never again will i eat a uhigh "miscellaneous" cookie. never again will i smuggle coffee into the library. never again will i spend 3 straight hours in the lounge playing feudalism. never again will be one of 6 people in a car. (or 7.) never again will i "ride jew" [hide in the station-wagon-trunk compartment of mike or ashvin's cars]. actually, i probably will do that.

you know, it's still not sinking in. probably around june 15th i'll be like, "oh my god! i don't have high school anymore!" and then i'll flail a lot.

listening to: tori amos, tiny dancer (live)

random amusing quotes: "think of it this way... the longer we're out here, the less time we spend being sexually harrassed"

"steve, someone's at the door for you.. it's a tornado"

"my dinosaur has downs syndrome!"

whee. so. yesterday mi familia and i all went and got new glasses prescriptions. woot! the guy said that my vision had indeed gotten worse, and new glasses would almost definitely help my headaches. (and if they don't, then it's a sinus problem. so, let's hope the glasses help... o_0) i aaalmost got some mark's mom-ish glasses. but they only came in brown. so instead i just got ones that are almost exactly like the ones i have now. yup. my mom and i spent like.. 20 minutes talking my dad into getting some regular glasses, instead of his freaky enormolous nerdy glasses. (my dad's a nerd. i love him, but his glasses.. go like, up over his eyebrows, and down to like.. his cheekbones. he says they're safer. whatever. they're ugly. aaand the optician said that you get better vision when your lenses are all IN FRONT OF YOUR eyes! ha! take that, dad!) [can you tell that this has been a point of contention between us and dad for awhile now...?]

anywho. then, i came home and watched spiceworld. woot! (seriously... no mocking of spiceworld. i heart that movie. it's sooo hilarious. if you haven't seen it... seriously, it's genuinely very funny. think hard day's night. it's very self-aware. plus, alan cumming is in it, as are roger moore and elvis costello. and the spice girls.)

then, i went to miriam's house.. and we spent a friggen hour trying to get in touch with our friends. it was out of control. so then we finally got through to steve, and then we met up with the mikes and ashvin and jeff. and then steve and i went to dan's party [hi kellie!], except dan wasn't there, and steve made us leave after like 15 minutes, because he was afraid of the tornado. *frowls* (there was no tornado! none! we weren't even on warning yet, just watch!! steve's a pansy.) so then we hung out in mike's basement watching teevee, and steve switched it to the weather every 3 minutes.

also, mike and miriam and i played a board game called "dinomite!" it was about dinosaurs. and they added "dino" to everything. ("roll the dinodice and move to the proper dinosquare! take a dino egg-venture card!") it was soo funny. and, i won. *does dinovictory dance*

then, i came home. and slept. and woke up. and ate some toast. and gave my mom a mother's day gift. and finished watching spiceworld. (i only got through aboot half of it last night, before miriam called.) aand blogged. and heeere we are, in the now.

listening to: dar williams, iowa

gah. so, guess what time i went to sleep last night? 7. pm. yes. like.. i had intended for it to be just a nap... in fact, i set my alarm for 8pm so that i'd get up, and possibly study for euro a bit. instead, i sleep through the alarm (which happened to be all of sgt. pepper), wake up at 9:30, decide it's really not worth it to get up, take a shower, and go back to sleep.

aand now i'm tired again. mmm sleep.

the ap euro exam wasn't too bad. the dbq was on ww1-era germany and i'm reasonably sure i rocked it. i had 4 pages. yes. the mcs.. i think i left 5 blank, and there were several i had it narrowed down to 2 or 3 choices but wasn't sure on. meh. *shrug* the frqs.. i had a pretty good one on the agricultural revolution and an okay one on the enlightenment's influence on the french revolution. except, i finished sooo crazy early. like, when sandy said to start working on the 3rd essay? i was done. i sat there for awhile, added one more sentence to my enlightenment essay, and read a book for awhile, until i noticed that sandy was completely disregarding ap rules and just letting people go. riight.

so. then, i dropped nick and sarah off at school, picked up reid, went to downtown normal for awhile.. went to steak n' shake with miriam, and then reid and talia and i saw x2!! wooo doing stuff with talia! woooo x2 again! woo!

dude! over at the cb boards, travis posted a poll:

who would win wwIII?

robots
pirates
pirate robots
dinosaurs
dinosaurs with guns for arms
cher clones

my vote was for pirates, of course. here was my reply:

The pirates would win, definitely. They're crafty, and they have swords and hooks and stuff. So when the dinosaurs with guns for arms were distracted, by their lusty pirate wenches, the pirates would cut off the guns with their swords. And then the wenches would stab the dinosaurs in the eyes with their hooks. And, the pirates would grab the robots and take them on their ships and make them walk the plank, and the robots would die because they're not waterproof. And neither are the Cher clones. And the dinosaurs would all get hit by a meteor.

There's gonna be a World War Three.

however, i also see the logic behind kait's reply:

I also voted for the dinosaurs with guns for arms.

See, because, at first, the robots and pirates will think they're just normal dinosaurs. But they're not. Oooooh, no... they're not.

So they laugh in the faces of the dinosaurs with guns for arms and go to squash them like the normal dinosaurs. But then... THEN the dinosaurs pull out their gun arms. The pirates have heart attacks. The other dinosaurs were already killed. ::tear:: And then the Cher clones get stomped and the piercing screams they emit as they are stomped breaks some key processors in the Pirate Robots and regular Robots heads, so they kill their own kind, until only the dinosaurs remain to RULE THE WORLD.

dude. this is such an old conversation... jason sent it to me and i'm so amused. (i was still pelecinco, if that says anything to you.) whooo remembers the old boards? and magenta? ah.. i've been so wrong to blame nathaniel for making me offensive. i've always been offensive. and if you don't like it, gthad!

renata: *SLAYS MAGENTA*
renata: *cough cough cough*
jason: haha
renata: use your extra birthday flame to flail all over her ass!
jason: Renata the Magenta Slayer
renata: hahahaha
jason: I'm just your nickname guy
renata: indeed.
jason: alas, it seems too late to effectively get in a good word
renata: just wait till magenta replies
jason: everything has been said...except for "just go to hell and die'
renata: i betcha she'll get progressively dumbe
renata: r
jason: and once i say that, the 'how can you say such a thing' people will come out of the woodwork
renata: this is true.
jason: and then I will have to say "I say it cuz I mean, Magenta needs to go to hell AND die!"
jason: and then people will say I make the internet a bad place and yadda yadda
renata: yeaaah. it'll be great!
renata: i'm so going to post this and be like, "this is a conversation i had with an.. anonymous board member"
renata: and see if anyone can guess ^_~
jason: BWAHAHA
renata: should i?
jason: Sure why not...if you think it'll work out well
renata: well, i dunno...
renata: people will probably be like, "you just amde that up!!"
renata: and i'll be like "um.. um... *cough!*"
jason: or even worse, they'll say "She only talks to Megan, it has to be her!!!"
jason: oh, i mean "It has to be her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
renata: this is also true...
renata: but...
renata: i think i'll post it anyway
jason: bwaha
jason: you know, anyone that says I'm mean, they can just go to hell and die too
jason: that way Magenta will have company and not be dead and in hell alone
renata: lol, that's true
renata: *is editing and posting*
jason: bwaha
jason: it's like I've flamed, but flamed anonymously
renata: yay!
renata: *is done editing* do you think it's too mean?
jason: Perhaps...it could actually get attacked by a moderator due to it's graphical content...
jason: parental guidance is advised
renata: yeah. hmm.
renata: i'll ask kait.
renata: heeey, maybe kait can post it
renata: adding another level of anonymity
jason: hell, maybe we can find out who that fake Manley person is over in the Broadway forum and have him/her post it
renata: hehehe
jason: the other thing is that Shannon pretty much said go to hell and die, except she said it sublminally
renata: hehe, yeah
renata: *wishes kait would answer her damn ims*
renata: kaait says she thinks it's hiarlous but some people probably won't think so
jason: just like how they wouldn't care for my puppy named Hitler
jason:
renata: yeah
renata: some people!
jason: Just because some bad German man had that name doesn't mean I can't name my Jack Russell Terrier that...and then play dress-up just like on Wishbone, and dress him up like Hitler...mustache and all
renata: OMG! i'm laughing harder than i do at magenta!
jason: that was the lost episode of Wishbone
jason: when he was Hitler
renata: LOL!
jason: it ranks right up there with the lost episode of when Wishbone was Caligula
renata: *snickets merrily*
renata: there should sooo be wishbone: the next generation
jason: Ooh, Wishbone and Friends
jason: with other animals, like a turtle and a goldfish...and a potbelly pig
renata: and a llama?
jason: only if it likes to read! ;-)
renata: well, of course!
renata: silly. have you ever known a llama who DOESN'T like to read?
jason: < shrugs> i know they like to EAT books...but read???
renata: that's goats!
renata: don't you extend your goat predjudice over to llamas!
renata: they're completely different!
jason: I'm offended that you would even think that.
jason: < sics dog on Renata > "Get her, Hitler!"
renata: Hi, Hitler!
jason: bwahaha
jason: sigh, why must people be so politically correct...they should have the right to enjoy this humor
renata: they should.
renata: *saves this conversation for future amusement*
jason: *or blackmail*
renata: *or both*

i'm hungry! *whines* and i have a blister on my foot from wearing shoes of doom yesterday!

life is sooooooo hard. woooooe is me.

so yeah. ap euro. baaah. induction last night was fun. thetard talked a lot. the skit was funny. i made my first last and only appearance as an actor on u-high's stage. it only reaffirmed my belief that behind the stage is where i belong. gah! people were looking at me and stuff! *flails* steve and i got a lot of laughs though. mostly, because it was me and steve, the two whitest people EVER, doing "i roll with GANGS!" "i roll with TWELVE gangs!" "we only commit HATE CRIMES!"

yeah.

gah! the mouse just got caught on something and closed the other two windows i had open! miraculously, blogger was saved. yay.

i'm tired AND i'm hungry AND my foot hurts. heey, i sound like wilkinson from a game of you. except his foot didn't hurt. but that's okay.

renata: well.. hopefully this will cheer you up, because i think you're one of the few people i know who's familiar with both cabaret and x-men..
renata: (non-spoiling. yes.) my mind was wandering during the ap lit exam.. a lot..
renata: and i started to think about alan as nightcrawler, but in cabaret
kait: ::giggles:: Oh dear...
renata: and theen, i thought about "victor! and bobby! or is it.. victor! and bobby! there's only one way to tell the difference you know... i'll show you later"
renata: and theeen i started thinking about sabertooth and iceman.. in the kit kat club..
renata: and... ooh my god. i was SO amused with my mental images
kait: ::laughing:: ::a lot:: Oh deeeeeaaar....
kait: It's probably a good thing that I didn't see it before the AP lit exam, then. ::snerk::

a few minutes later (completely unrelated. i think, anyway... unless we're being watched! ahh! *dives under bed*):

melody: you and Kait should date each other.
renata: baha
renata: that would be an interesting relationship.
melody: I haven't thought it out at all. I'm just saying.

(btw, kait, i mean interesting-good. just in case that wasn't clear ^_^ *sigh* too bad i'm straight and you live in new jersey and all. life's so hard!)

listening to: tori, tiny dancer (live)

i so didn't know that this song had the phrase "pirate smile" in it. that's so great. i always thought it was.. like.. well, i don't really know. "something incoherent smile."

ap lit exam was interesting. the best part was, um, the last essay, i chose to write about frankenstein and the prompt, it was something about how tragic heroes are like lightning rods and they conduct tragedy and something. so for my outline, i drew a lightning bolt, a lightning rod, and the ground. i labed the bolt "monster", the rod "frankenstein", and the ground "death!" and that was all i did to prepare for it. this amused me greatly.

amanda and i got ice cream today, and the flavor of the month is "x-men x-mint". it's great. and they have a special sundae called "wolverine's berry revenge" or somesuch, which cracked me up. ("raspberry roaaar!" [i mean, "raspconglomerate!"])

helped reid study for his constitution test. seriously, man... he didn't even know the 3 branches of government. aren't you supposed to learn that in 3rd grade? that's when we learned it. out of control. yarrr.

Enneagram
free enneagram test

Type Six
The Loyalist
The committed, security-oriented type. Sixes are reliable, hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy. Excellent "troubleshooters," they foresee problems and foster cooperation, but can also become defensive, evasive, and anxious?running on stress while complaining about it. They can be cautious and indecisive, but also reactive, defiant and rebellious. They typically have problems with self-doubt and suspicion. At their Best: internally stable and self-reliant, courageously championing themselves and others.

i've taken 3 different kinds of enneagram tests, and i've been, at various points, a 5, a 9, and now a 6. *shrug* i think elements of all of them are in everyone. which is.. yeah.

internet tests are fun! shiny! whee!

umm... like.. can't function. prom. was. yes. not bad. annoying music. and people. except for the people who weren't. the stuff preceding and (especially) following it was better, though. i think i'm going to go nap. but i just have have to post this before i forget it. so right, we were playing scattegories at molly's house, and the letter was "k". one of the categories was "things that are black". so steve says "kkk targets". and. oooh my god it was hilarious. by far the highlight of my evening.

listening to: grinnell g-tones, call me al

random amusing quote: "x-men 2: wolverine's quest for beer"

arrrrgh gotta leave in like 15 minutes to get ready for goddamn prom. *frowls at lot* but i really really really just have to post quickly about last night. because x2 rocked so so hard. i mean there were some small "wtfs?" but i hearted it so much. they're alllll soooo awesome. mike and i sat next to each other and had some major geekgasms. and.. well, i'll do spoiler text for any fellow geeks who have yet to see it.. just highlight if you want the following sentence to make sense: we couldn't believe that they did pheonix because now they almost have to do days of future past which would take like 10 movies just to fit it all in. argh! and imagine how confused you'd be if you didn't know the comics at all!

but most importantly: alan cumming. so cute. sooooo cute. aww. i mean. SOOOOO cute. rob was bitching because he wasn't fuzzy, but they got the tattoos right, and it kind of looked like he was.. finely fuzzy. i felt almost like they didn't take his religion seriously enough, you know? like he was some sort of running joke. except the scene when jean and storm are talking to him about his tattoos. (yes, i do have way too much fun with spoiler text.) anyway.. over all, so well done, soooo coool, (so much cool action! gaaah!) and i want to see it again! and also have 10 million of alan cumming's babies.

oh yeah, and i so got pulled over last night and he thought i was drunk but i wasn't and he didn't give me a ticket and i accidentally gave him my thespian card because it was stuck to the back of my license which i now find amusing. yes. he was nice. because there were like.. 3 things he could have ticketed me for [speeding, expired license plate {doh! dammit, dad!}, and "obstructed view", ie my parking tag]... and he didn't. i just got like, a "stopped" thing. which doesn't count on my record and i didn't have to pay and he didn't take my license so i don't really care. yes. wooo nice cops!

boo prom. *whooshes off*

i want to share this excerpt from the ap lit discussion board. note the order and times of posting.       NATHANIEL 2 May 03    6:00 AM MST
You could call it a utopia just as easily as you call it a dystopia though. To us, Brave New World is terrifying, but to the people that lived in it (most of them at least) it was perfect. Everyone was happy, they had no cares. What more could they ask for? It's all a matter of perspective.

       NATHANIEL 2 May 03    7:41 AM MST
Well Renata, to them it was not an illusion. They were happy to as much of an extent as they could be. While they might not be able to experience true, I think it is possible to experience some level of happiness. Especially when you are conditioned to think that whatever you are experiencing is good.

       RENATA 2 May 03    7:41 AM MST
You see, Nathaniel, they thought they were happy, but were they really? Is it better to have the illusion of happiness, or to have freedom, and the pain and joy that come with it? I don't think that happiness can exist without sadness; there's no such thing as a one-sided coin.

       NATHANIEL 2 May 03    7:42 AM MST
Wouldn't this discussion be more interesting if we were baking a pie?

       RENATA  2 May 03    7:42 AM MST
I could go for some pie. In fact, I love pie. Maybe I've been brainwashed by the pie industry.

       NATHANIEL  2 May 03    7:44 AM MST
Was it the cream pie industry or the fruit pie industry? They compete against each other you know.

       RENATA  2 May 03    7:45 AM MST
What about the meat pie industry? Meat is really the ultimate industry, because it combines so many other industries.. like the corn industry. And um, the animal industry. And the farming industry. And the SHUT UP NATHANIEL industry. I mean... stuff.

oh yeah and-

(for fellow toriphiles only, methinks)

just wanted to say that i never used to like the song "spring haze". and then i saw her do it live. and i just love it so much. i mean really. (which reminds me. that i need to update my soundtrack, i think. i definitely need to add "as cool as i am" by dar williams. and it's just. a lot of the songs on there are for.. who i used to me? and i need to find some for who i am. *peers* actually, i guess most of them still fit. i guess i'm really just thinking about how i used to listen to little earthquakes and really relate to it. and now i don't. which is good, because as much as i adore le it's not a happy album by any stretch of the imagination.)

okay, i'm going to go do laundry now. because this will be my 3rd post in like.. an hour? jeez.

and my only way out is to go

heey, does anyone want to go see talia's cyso concert with me on sunday? *flail* it'll be gooood!! i wanna go.. but her mom is driving, and so far no one else can go... and i don't really know talia's mom all that welll... and it would just be so awkward for me. *sigh* but with two people.. it would be wondrous good!

gah.. although i did just realize that this would mean not getting home until past 11. the day before the ap lit exam. at 8 am. and although i'm not particularly worried about the ap lit exam.. i still wanna get a 4 or a 5, for credit.. and.. oh well. it's not that bad. *frowls* i just feel bad because i sooo want to go to one of talia's concerts and i've never been able to. *frowls more* so yeaah.. let me know if you can go ^_^

random amusing quotes: "playboy mommy is such a funny song!"
"um, ashvin, it's about her miscarriage.. it's not really.. funny at all"
"oh, really? i've never heard it, i just thought it was a hilarious title"

** the next quote requires, i think, some background information: all you need to know is that an interesting, and unintentional sexual innuendo was found on miriam's t-shirt. meanwhile, nathaniel was wearing an ihsa swimming and diving shirt. i realize this is longer than the actual quote, but i think it's worth it.**

"at least my shirt doesn't have any sexual innuendo!"
"i don't know nathaniel.. it might make some people wet."

moving on. last day of spanish! woooooot! it's so weird that school is almost over. i'm not really ready for it. i mean usually when school is almost over, i can't wait. but i'm.. sort of stuck in the present, really. interesting.

i feel like... um.. i don't know. (i sound like delirum, but that's another story.) hmm. well like. people. (i should really um not just type every word that comes to mind but um oh well. if only i had a fish to follow...) er. well, just seeing some people really upset today... it reminded me how much i hate it when people ask me "what's wrong?" and how fucked up that is. because i know that it's just because (well, usually) they care and they want to help. but i hate it. hate hate hate it. i will go to great lengths to pretend to be happy, or at least okay, just to avoid being asked "what's wrong?" and um i don't really think that's healthy but hey, it works for me. i suppose. yeah.

um.

how geeky are you? i'm only 17.357%, which puts me at "Geek" level. although this is kind of slanted. i'm a much bigger book nerd than this test shows. right.
