listening to: jill sobule, pilar (things here are different)

odd coincidence: was watching the simpsons (yay eric idle!) and at the end, they played "starry starry night", and i was like "yay!" because i heart that song, but i couldn't remember who sang it, so i did a quick google search.. and apparently a couple ago tori covered it in concert. wooot! so that's downloading. (it's not as odd of a coincidence as i thought, becasue i originally thought it said march 27 instead of january 27.. but still.)

in euro news: i'm up to 1939. (including a completely inevitable 2 hour nap, due not to the material, which is relatively interesting as far as spielvogel goes, but rather to my recent random exhaustion.) go me.

listening to: ramones, blitzkrieg bop

argh. i designated today my official "catch up on euro" day. i didn't really realize how far i'd fallen behind. i'm up to 1914 now! woo! 4 more chapters to go!! and the sad thing is that none of this sounds at all familiar to me. what the hell have we been covering in class these last months? like... we did the ww2 dictators... and talked a lot about imperialism and the causes of ww1. which i already knew. um. argh. but anyway. i also really want to re-watch sw, because monopoly last night made me realize that it's been forever since the last time i saw it. i need to recharge my geek batteries. sigh. so we'll see how much euro i can cram into a few hours ^_^

listening to: tori, sometimes things break (live)

so interesting evening. miriam and ashvin and nathaniel came over. miriam got lost. but it wasn't my fault. really. anyway. we played star wars monopoly. and nathaniel ended up with a monopoly on yavin 4. and i ended up with all these really random things. so he kept trying to buy completely random things from me for like, $1500. just because he could. but i refused. because i have dignity. or i'm stubborn. something like that. but then i landed on his stupid $1000 spaceport like 5 times and went broke. aah well.

the trouble with these sandman postcards is that i love them all so much that i don't want to send them. *covets* so i have like, this box of useless postcards.i want to frame this one of death with her cuip of coffee, though. it's so cute. i adore it. although i think maybe my favorite one was the one i sent to priscellie to thank her for sending me the postcards ^_^

i'm going to bed.

stolen from priscellie. real entry below.

- Who did you last get angry with?
angry-angry? prolly my mom.

- What is your weapon of choice?
pretending like everything is fine and simmering. it's not really that effective.

- Would you hit a member of the opposite sex?
i slap mike all the time. but he deserves it.

- How about of the same sex?
sure. not hard, though. i don't hit people much.

- Who was the last person who got really angry at you?
really angry? um, probably my mom. unless people just pretend like they're not mad at me. oh god, everyone hates me! *hides under bed*

- What is your pet peeve?
people who talk too much about teen angsty problems to me. unless they're very close friends.

- Do you keep grudges, or can you let them go easily?
If I'm not very fond of a person, I keep grudges almost indefinitely. If they're my friend, they're forgiven instantly. [i agree with priscellie, for the most part.]

- What is one thing you're supposed to do daily that you haven't done in a long time?
eh... clean my room?

- What is the latest you've ever woken up?
er.. pretty late, i'd imagine.

- Name a person you've been meaning to contact, but haven't:
hmm.. samantha (best friend up until about 8th grade). but i got an invitation to her bridal shower (!) so um i guess i'll see her soon...

- What is the last lame excuse you made?
"i can't work, because i have do a.. school.. thing."

- Have you ever watched an infomercial all the way through (one of the long ones...)?
as a child, i loved infomercials. but not since about age 5 or so.

- When was the last time you got a good workout?
wednesday night at kickboxing. arrr.

- How many times did you hit the snooze button on your alarm clock today?
i don't hit the snooze button, my alarm clock plays cds, so i just listen to the music.

- What is your overpriced yuppie beverage of choice?
starbucks mocha frappucinos.

- Meat eaters:
yeah. *flail* chicken is just so good.

- What is the greatest amount of alcohol you've had in one sitting/outing/event?
prolly the costa rican brandy-soaked watermelon.

- Have you ever used a professional diet company?

- Do you have an issue with your weight?
eeeh not really.

- Do you prefer sweets, salty foods, or spicy foods?
salty. mm.

- Have you ever looked at a small house pet or child and thought, "LUNCH!"?
mm, succulent babies... by which i mean, no.

- How many people have you seen naked (not counting people in movies/babysitting/family)?
half-naked people backstage.

- How many people have seen YOU naked (not counting physicians/family?)
hmm.. none that i know of... *gets paranoid and closes curtains*

- Have you ever caught yourself staring at the chest/crotch of a member of your gender of choice during a normal conversation?

- Have you "done it"?

- What is your favorite body part on a person of your gender of choice?
eyes. and shoulders.

- Have you ever been propositioned by a prostitute?

- Have you ever had to get tested for an STD or pregnancy?

- How many credit cards do you own?

- What's your guilty pleasure store?
bookstores, especially acme. i like to go in and covet the endless action figures. (as in, figures of the endless. not an endless number of them. right.)

- If you had $1 million, what would you do with it?
i would buy you a green dress (but not a real green dress, that's cruel.) no.. um, i'd buy college. and a niceish car. well. nicer than the one i have. probably still a cheap one. and i'd buy some cds. and books. and a new pair of shoes. i ripped the black canvas ones on a table. and i'd save the rest. and maybe go to australia.

- Would you rather be rich, or famous?

- Would you accept a boring job if it meant you would make megabucks?
how boring, and how many hours a day would i have to work? prolly not though.

- Have you ever stolen anything?
i've stolen posters. *points at walls* but they were advertising posters, not like. from a poster store.

- How many MP3s are on your hard drive?
*peer* 346 (22:55 hours of music.) but most are live, or rarities, but i do have a few that are ripped from reid's cds, or just downloaded cos i didn't want to buy the album.

- What one thing have you done that you're most proud of?
i'm proud of the personal progress i've noticed myself making, regarding my self confidence. go me. tangibly? um.. probably my apush research paper. oh, how i love it. and shakespearemon!! also, assorted websites. *pats cc.com lovingly*

- What one thing have you done that your parents are most proud of?
Doing v. well in school, I guess. Becoming a well-adjusted young lady that refuses to touch alcohol or drugs and does not bankrupt the Bank of Daddy. (i'll agree with priscilla on this, i suppose.)

- What thing would you like to accomplish in your life?
have a cool job?

- Do you get annoyed by coming in second place?
it depends on who i'm second to. if it's a friend, or a random person.. not really. but there's a short list of people i get annoyed when i lose to. namely because these people's egos are big enough already...

- Have you ever entered a contest of skill, knowing you were of much higher skill?
i don't enter too many contests of skill. *shrug*

- Have you ever cheated on something to get a higher score?
on a test? no, but on homework, and stuff, yes. mostly just when i don't feel like doing 4000 pages of spanish homework and i copy a few out of the back. also, received extensive help from tj on physics labs last year.. but that's not really cheating. really. *shifty eyes*

- What did you do today that you're proud of?
um.. well, i was proud that people liked the thingummies that i had written for brome.. but i didn't write them. today... i was proud of the awesome grilled cheese i made. actually, i wasnt' that proud of it, the bread was all thin and it got all curled up on one side. i'm a failure.

- What item (or person) of your friends would you most want to have for your own?
*considers* i'll get back to you on that one.

- Who would you want to go on "Trading Spaces" with?
oh, priscilla ^_^ i think she'd understand the chaotic balance of my room, and would only make approved changes.

- If you could be anyone else in the world, who would you be?
i'll stick with being me. i've read enough books to know that when you change places with people you always end up regretting it, learning some pat moral, and changing back. always.

- Have you ever been cheated on?
not to my knowledge.

- Have you ever wished you had a physical feature different from your own?
oh yes.

- What trait do you see in others that you wish you had for yourself?
trina's non-spitefulness. the kindness of many. the musical and artistic talents of many.

- Do you wish you'd come up with this survey?

* Finally, what is your favorite deadly sin?

sloth! *naps* woooooo sloth.

*yawn* slept a lot today. went to the brome editing meeting (both my pieces were accepted, woot ^_^) and then came home and slept more. feel ickily. the highlight was definitely the angry collaborative poem we wrote. (we divided stuff into love, sadness, random fun, and anger, and we needed more anger.) it goes something like this:
i hate josh
he thinks he's so posh
i hate josh
i hope he hurts himself in a pit of mosh
i hate josh
oh my gosh!
i hate josh
always wearing osh kosh b'gosh
i hate josh
every day, including hoshana, rosh
i hate josh
he smells like squash
i hate josh
his smell is one i want to wash

megan says she'll publish it if she gets desperate ^_^

and then, after the nap, i watched clerks. woot. and now i'm talking to miriam, and i invited people here in a clever attempt to.. i don't know. something. but now she's actually talking like people will actually come to my house. weird.

*is tired* intriguing.

aanywho. rent was goodly!! megandee rushed with me!! i love seeing rent with virgins! woot!! it was a fun line. well, at first, i was alll alone. well, not aline. but i was with skankyrob, and some copulating people. and some other people. but you know. and then megan and liz came. and then del came! yay! and then meagna and kayla came! yay! and dan and kellie! and much fun was had. and we went to ming's, and more fun was had. the show was decent. krystal (mimi)'s voice was really raspy and such. but i adoooored the new mark. so so cute. i really thought he pulled off the "goofy fun mark who is really, really good at covering up his angst until act II mark", which is my favorite kind of mark. welll.. okay, my favorite is more the scott hunt, "sarcastic fun mark who is really really good at covering up his angst until act II mark" but whatever. close. i'll blog more later. i have euro to do.

listening to: the simpsons

oh my god! i love this episode!! marty plays the monster mash on valentine's day! and ralph falls in love with lisa! and they have the mediocre presidents pageant!! and homer thinks it's bacon day!! aah!

(it's maybe a little sad that that whole rant was inspired by the first 30 seconds of the episode.)

but i heart it so.

anyway. after much drama (thanks to all who supported my drama, notably kellie and eliz, because they read this), it was discovered that normal is indeed having a (teehee) normal rush. woohooo megan and del! and taboooooooooooo!

"the children are right to laugh at you, ralph."

whee. went to the dentist today. boo dentistry.

also, went to the mackinaw liberry to renew my card. the glories of small towns: i walk in (for the first time after at least a year, mind you) and am greeted by name. also, they were selling all the reject books you could carry for 50 cents. total, mind you. so i picked up vindication of the rights of woman, animal farm, the prince, a portrait of a lady, all the president's men, aaand the mayor of castro street. woohoo harvey milk!! ("wow, i don't think this has ever been read!" "yeaah, i don't think gay lit is very popular in mackinaw.")

so woohoo for that.

"megan, your boobs are like the grand canyon!"
"yeaah.. i wanna excavate your national landmark!"
"um.. explore. yes. oh, you know you wanna ride a burro allll the way down to the bottom!"

teeehee. my cat is so excessively friendly right now. it's cute. but also a wee bit annoying. *pets cat* aww. i'm going to call megan right now! about rent! yay! *is confused* call not allowed? what?! *frowl* yay, now it's dialing! yay, i'm talking to megan!! teehee!

so anyway. rent, you should all come. if i didn't make that clear enough already. (ah, the bold tag. how i love thee.)

random amusing quotes: "don't worry, if you mess up, the worst that'll happen is i'll eat your baby!"

shakespearemon presentation went really well. i heart it.

if you live around me and you're free on thursday night, you should definitely go see rent. because i heart it. and you can get student rush tickets for $23.50 on wednesday at the braden box office. i don't know why i'm randomly bolding things, but that's okay. so yes. woot rent.

really late friday 5. because, i can. and i like this one.

1. If you had the chance to meet someone you've never met, from the past or present, who would it be?

*considers* well. probably neil gaiman. but it wouldn't be that hard to meet him in actuality, i'd just have to go to a signing, and they're not all that infrequent. so i'll go with john lennon, for purposes of this question.

2. If you had to live in a different century, past or future, which would it be?

i'll go with the 1960's. even though that's a decade, not a century. although i suppose it's a different century, cos now it's the 21st century. yaay!

3. If you had to move anywhere else on Earth, where would it be?

eeh i agree with chelle, probably nyc. and if countries, canada. but i'd visit australia.

4. If you had to be a fictional character, who would it be?

be one? umm.. princess leia. because she's just so darn cool. nooo wait. mara jade. no wait... yeah, leia,. because then i get han, instead of luke. (yes, i'm a huge geek. *sob* shut up.) runner-up would be delirium. but i think it would be fun to be her for awhile, but after the first.. century or so, you might start to get angsty. of course i think a lot of delirium's angst is because she was once delight and sometimes she can still remember that. whereas my aspect of delirium never would have been delight. but nevertheless i think i'll stick with mortal characters ^_^

5. If you had to live with having someone else's face as your own for the rest of your life, whose would it be?

i'll go with tori amos. but then i'd have to dye my hair red. wait, like.. then would she look like me? or would people be like, "heey, you're tori amos!" because if so, then i'd pick some random obscure person, so as not to attract attention to meself.

listening to: ani d, my name is lisa kaveledge

duuude. just dude. our shakespearemon project is the best thing i have ever, ever done for school. (yes, it even surpasses the glory that is me and elizabeth's manifest destiny songbook.) deaaar god. it came together so well. i mean, it took like.. 4 hours. but they were fun 4 hours. the best is one of our "random event" cards... it's "pirates!" and for an image, we just did google image search for pirates, and it came up with this stick figure of a pirate, and he's saying like, "arrr! avast, me fishy!" and we all thought it was hilarious. and then for the actual shakespearemon, we scanned a bunch of talia's pokemon playing cards, and then we printed them out, and then we printed out the heads of all the actors from the branagh movie version, and just glued them on the pokemon.. they're so so so great. hamlet is pikachu, and gertrude is meowth, and.. god, they're just all so great. *sigh*

i neglected to mention the best part of last night: we decided to all cram into mike c.'s car, rather than taking two, so miriam and stephanie were in the trunkish part (he has a station wagon, so it's not *really* the trunk), and they had to crouch down because mike was afraid of getting a ticket.. which led someone to draw the parallel between this, and smuggling jews in ww2... and.. it was really funny. and then we discussed the sheer number of random jewish references we make in an average day. it's weird. i don't think any of us even know any jews (okay, except for ian.) and it's not like we're anti-semetic. it just seems to come up all the freaking time. it must be because nathaniel is related to hitler. (not really.)

also, i forgot to mention.. i think the only tossup i got all day yesterday was about joel grey. yaaaay joel grey. (is it grey or gray? wait, i think it's joel gray and jean grey. okay.) either way. he was the original emcee in cabaret. and i heart cabaret so it brings me joy that he was the answer to a question. woot.

and now i'm off to finish lots and lots of spanish homework. *frowl*

listening to: mst2k, what a pleasant journey

random amusing quotes: "... we're all being replaced by indians. from india!"

"*sigh* nathaniel, i'm having you replaced. with an indian. from india!"

hmm so. spaz bowl yesterday. we did better than we.. expected. i'm content. see, they draw the two brackets randomly, so of course we ended up in a bracket with the defending state champs (chicago latin), the team that i will eat my hat if they didn't go on to become the state champions (stillman valley), and dunlap. who are also quite good. so let's see. we got creamed by stillman valey in the first round. like, 60-180 creamed. ouch. but the questions were SO HARD. out of 24, i knew the answer to a big *2*. and i didn't get in on time for either of them. ouch. the match against chicago latin was sooo close. but we ended up losing. it was like, 130-170 or something. argh. and then we ended on a high note, we creamed dunlap like.. 40-170. but unfortunately, we needed to beat them by 170 points in order for there to be a 3-way points tie, so we didn't cream them quite enough. aah well. mike and i didn't even think we'd make it to state, so i mean.. even being in the elite 8 was really great for us. and our names are on the backs of the shirts! yay!

also, we got to eat on the school's dollar. so we went to the new restaurant, chevy's. and it was bad. well, i was in the bathroom while we were sitting down, so i ended up having to sit with.. the people i would have preferred not to sit next to. but we had a competent waiter, and got our food in like, 10 minutes, and the other table had to wait like, an hour. and then nick got up, so i stole his seat. and then he came back, and we just squeezed, because nick was too nice to make me go back. yay ^_^

and then. i met up with miriam and steve, and then we called mike and mike and stephanie, and we went to mike's house. and then diamond dave's, and i got fried ice cream. and! apparently our targets have smints now!! and i didn't have any money, but miriam bought me some peach smints! (meagna got me hooked on them.) yay!

and then i came home and was in bed by 10:30. hurrrrrah, sleep. oh, and congrats to gi folk! yaaaay!

listening to: mst3k, master ninja theme song

so. back from palooza. jason's band was surprisingly good. and they played the teenage mutant ninja turtles theme song. which reminded me that i hadn't listened to the master ninja theme song in a long, long time. so i am righting that wrong.

ba ba ba ba ba
master ninja theme song!

speaking of master ninjas... kait, i had a dream about you last night! i was in new york, and you had broken your leg and you were in a wheelchair and it was sad! *flail*

anyway. yeah, palooza was good. nick and drue wore dresses. *teehee* and. mike and i discussed how badly we're going to lose tomorrow at state. whoaaa.

i just realized that i'm really excited about rent!! wow! i was all blase, like "oooh, it's just the collins tour" but now i'm like, "oh yeah... i really like rent! and i haven't seen it since june!" and best of all, megan and del are coming!! yaaaaay!! (we need to talk.) so yeah. if anyone wants to see rent, the day before (mar 26), they're selling all the leftover tickets for $23. (weeeeird rush.) but you should go. it'll be great.

hmm. i think it's time for a geekrant (tm). you've been warned, non x-philes. so anyway. i was just cleaning my room, and i came across my mulder and scully action figures, and i got all nostalgic. *sniff* and i just remember how obsessed i used to be. (and how obsessed some of you guys used to be; you know who you are ^_^) and i kind of miss it. i miss being excited about sunday nights. i miss knowing how to work the vcr timer because god help me if i missed an episode. i remember in 7th grade when there was that cliffhanger, and tlg analyzed the phial, and langly was all, "it's just deionized water" and they were all disappointed and then in the next episode (i can't remember if it was finale/primiere or just a 2-parter) mulder was all, "no, there's a chip in the water!" and it was great. it was mytharc done right. because later the show became allll about the mytharc and it sucked. (well, and also because mulder and scully were gone.) but see. the show was about the motws and the occasional goofy episode and the occasional mytharc episode. not an entire season of mytharc, and like... one motw. or like... goofy mytharc. goofy mytharc was goodly. like "musings of a cigarette-smoking man." and then, somehow, tptb decided that instead of having interesting plots, they could just kill off all the good characters! every last one of them!! except for skinner! but we'll stick him off in an office somewhere so he can't do anything!! and we'll replace him with that stupid jerky black dude! argh! and then, and then, we'll just KILL ALL THE LONE GUNMEN! aaaaaaaaaaaaah!

*sob* i wanna go watch some goood txf. RIGHT NOW. *is a bitter geek*

wheeee. the gi was very, very humorous. so yay, gi-type-folks!

but. by far the best part of today was in shakespeare, when marion and talia and i discussed the nation's next craze: shakespearemon. it's going to be so great. it's like pokemon, except with hamlet. (well, the first one is hamlet. but once people are addicted, it'll branch out and eventually cover all of the plays.) instead of ash, you are shakespeare. oldghosthamletmon is the equivalent of professor oak. (he gives you information and suchlike.) but, you always have to carry horatio around to talk to him. ("thou art a scholar horatio, speak to it!") unfortunately, horatio has no other powers. (diabolical, we know.) here's what we have so far:
shakespearemon (hamletmon)!
thou gotst to catch them all!

i choose...

level 5 madness
level 5 berserker
level 5 depression

level 4 evil
level 3 shifty eyes
level 5 poison pearl

level 5 skankiness

level -5 swordsmanship
level 3 poison sword attack
level -3 sportsmanship
(we don't like laertes very much...)

level 6 madness
level 5 skankiness
level 3 flower power
level 5 pms rage

level 5 unification
level 4 confusion

level 5 foreign invasion
level 5 detachment

level 3 ghost speaking

great, no?

anyway. brief schedule for the rest of my week:
tomorrow: pioneerpalooza
saturday: spaz bowl state. fully expect to be annihilated by stillman valley and the latin school. (oh, how i hate the latin school.) but we'll see.

listening to: stuuuart, pearls into the dirt

random amusing quotes: "saddam hussein is going to hell!"

"ashvin said she didn't collect the homework yesterday"
"sweet as hell! *considers* i don't understand why people say that, it's not like hell's that sweet. unless.. you're diabetic. *pause* sweet as diabetic hell!"

"stay on topic, guys"
"oh, there are plenty of slushies in jane eyre! aaalways drinking slushies, she was."

this is my favorite song about jackson pollock ever. not that i can think of any other songs of jackson pollock at the moment. let's not let that diminish from stuart's accomplishment, here.

oh, that rminds me, i need to burn stu for martin and josh, and some soul coughing for megandee. eeexcellent.

i'm tired. but happy, because i got to come home today right after school!! yay! i love when that happens!! and megan and michelle and eliz and i got ice cream at 2:00, and it was very very good. and. well, i guess that's about it.

hmm. watching the tv version of a ring of endless light on disney channel. raaather unsuccessful. like. zach is so one dimensional. and it's been awhile since i read the book, b but i'm pretty sure there was no subplot about zach's dad having illegal fishing nets. and vicky's really pretty and she's not supposed to be, and suzie's not really pretty and she is supposed to be. aah well. it's always hard to change a book into a movie, and the better the book the harder it is... (thusly i have immense amounts of respect for peter jackson.)

listening to: ani d, back around

oooh my god boys are gross. *shudder* cleaning out reid's desk.. i open a drawer... and there's a bowl of nacho cheese!! or what used to be nacho cheese! *flail* it was all black and hard and... the horror, the horror...

i mean i realize fully that my room isn't the neatest place ever.. but the pinnicle of my dirtiness is things like random socks that have been under the bed for a few months, or this one water bottle that's been on my window sill since you know maybe this summer.. but.. um.. water doesn't MOLD!

listening to: ani d, buildings and bridges

oooh this reminds me, who wants to take an ani roadtrip to joliet?! it's a saturday, april.. 12th i think. *rummage* yes. and it's her solo tour! and bitch and animal are opening for her! *hearts bitch and animal* tickets are... *more rummaging* $33. yes.

anyway. last night i went to miriam's house, and then steve and stephanie and mike and mike (like mike and ike, but without all the calories) came over too, and we watched some clerks cartoons and got ice cream. mmm, ice cream. oh, and on friday, i bought the laramie project at b&n. i heart laramie. (even if the word "laramie" on its own makes me think of the cigarettes on the simpsons.)

aaand today... i have to read some king lear and clean reid's room. because apparently i'm being punished for the fact that he's a slob. whatever.

listening to: rent, another day (bt 6.18.00e, if'n you cared)

random amusing quotes: "yeaah, in 9 months i'll knock you up!"

"this punctuation mark is also the currency of costa rica"
"the comma?"

woo to the oot, uhigh spaz bowl is going to state! teehee. the whole day, alll i could think about was a line from one of the clerks cartoons... "do you think they're coooognizant of how baaad they have it?" "i hoooope not" "pooooor bastards." "teeehehehehe!" so i rented those on my way back. ah, kevin smith, how i love thee and thine films.

last night i had to work at the stupid christian moms conference. i lost my voice explaining that yes, the main level was full, and no, they did not have reserved seats. aaand because diet coke is apparently the official beverage of christian mom-dom, i ended up with "in cyberlaaaand we only drink.. diet coke.. diet coke.. diet coke" stuck in my head all night, so i had to dig out some rent boots. (in my head it was maggie singing. but right now i'm listening to erin's version, cos she's a sex goddess.)

must do euro now. *frowl*

So. Costa rica. Am typing this in word, because I?ll be hella pissed if blogger eats it. Heeeeey, stop your auto-capitalizing! I?ll have none of this! frowl heeey! When I type asterisks, I want them to stay asterisks! Not make it bold! Gah! Oh, frustration. New battle plan, then.

now then. let's see what textedit has to say about this. *frowl*

nooow then.

i stole a notepad from the first hotel we went to, and proceeded to write down everything that amused me on it. so i shall write this in annotated list form, i think. in roman numerals, because those make people look smart.

I. quest for tater tots
II. quien ha roto la tambura?
III. shoes
IV. juuuice
V. josh + broom = looove
VI. umbrellas up nose?
VII. you have to move the jews
VIII. imperial brand cerezas
IX. i'm so wasted on cherries
X. tambourine supernova
XI. transparent butterflies
XII. death by sidewalk
XIII. most. vindictive. horse. ever.
XIV. el pelo del ladron
XV. damn you little mermaid!
XVI. brandy watermelon
XVII. you can rape me!
XVIII. last night i had this dream
XIX. yell like jane
XX. why does the rainforest need an emergency exit?
XXI. unless the surprise is lunch, i don't want it

I. quest for tater tots

at chicago o'hare airport, trina suddenly decided that she wanted some tater tots. we had a couple hours to kill, so we wandered around, mission: impossible/charlie's angels style, attempting to find some. she settled for french fries, but continued craving tater tots throughout the trip.

II. quien ha roto la tambura?

so we arrive safely in san jose, and go off to our lovely hotel. in the morning, we go to some museums, or museos, if you will. precolumbian art.. and.. another one. i think. anyway, so we're sitting around, and josh decides to teach us this song he learned in 8th grade spanish. it is the most addicive song eeever. as martin put it, "it's musical heroin!" so that was in everyone's head for the entire trip. it goes as follows:
un de enero (janurary 1st)
dos de febrero, (february 2nd)
tres de marzo (march 3rd)
cuatro de abril (april 4th)
cinco de mayo (may 5th)
seis de junio (june 6th)
siete de julio (july 7th_
san fermin! (san fermin!)
la la la la la la (la la la la la la)
quien ha roto la tambura? (who has broken the tambourine?)
la la la la la la (la la la la la la)
quien ha roto la pagara! (whoever has broken it will pay!)

III. shoes

whilst walking in downtown san jose, my stupid sandal broke, so i had to walk around with one shoe. well, first i tried to fix it with bandaids, but that didn't work out too well. fortunately, san jose has very clean streets.

IV. juuuice

costa rica has the best juice ever. ever ever. and smoothies. while we were there, i drank orange juice, lemonade, strawberry-watermelon juice. a watermelon smoothie, canteloupe juice, guava juice, a blackberry smoothie... and all of it fresh and insanely delicious. mmm.

V. josh + broom= loooove

we went to this folklore dinner-dancing thing, and eliz, josh, mr. j, and i had to go up dance with them.. and like, we danced around in a circle, and one boy was always in the center dancing with a broom, and josh had to do it like.. 3 times. hee.

VI. umbrellas up nose?

so the juice at this dinner came with little umbrellas in it, and amanda wanted to put them up her nose.. and it was funny, and i laughed and i choked and i almost died.

VII. you have to move the jews

eh.. i told elizabeth to move her juice but she thought i said jews and hilarity ensued. well. kinda.

VIII. imperial brand cerezas

imperial is the main brand of beer (cerveza) in costa rica, and josh bought an imperial shirt. he was talking about being able to wear it to school, because no one would know it was a beer shirt. (you can't wear beer or cigarette shirts to school.) and then ms. potter said that she'd know, and she'd make him take it off.. so then we said we'd get a sharpie and cross out the v, so it would say "imperial cereza", or imperial cherry. this led to point IX.

IX. "i'm so wasted on cherries!"

enough said.

X. tambourine supernova

the aforementioned tambourine song was in everyone's head, so on the really rocky road to monteverde (our guide said that the roads are purposely bad to discourage tourism, because too many people is damaging to the rainforest) martin, josh, and i sang a tambouine medley, including such future classsics as "tambourine supernova", "lucy in the sky with tambourines", "live and let tambourine", "hey tambourine", "dear tambourine"... you get the idea.

someday you will find me
caught beneath a landslide
in a tambourine supernova
and then you will paaaay...

XI. transparent butterflies

oh, in monteverde we did this really cool thing... there were these skywalks built above the rainforest canopy. so pretty. kinda terrifying, though. and, there were transparent butterflies and it was way cool.

XII. death by sidewalk

josh and i both almost fell off the sidewalk (not on the bride, anymore, fortunately) so we determined that if i died, people would miss me. *nod* and also, falling off a tambourine would be a bad way to die. what the hell?! why did i just type tambourine?! it's taking over my brain?! *flail* seriously, i was typing point XIII when i looked up and was like.. waaait.. falling off a tambourine?! *sigh*

XIII. most vindictive horse ever

so later this day (or maybe it was the next day, i'm not sure on my timeframe..), we went horseback riding.. which was fun, except my horse was evil. it went realllly slowly, except every so often it would speed up a lot. and it tried to bite other horses, and it kept trying to brush me off. which hurt. aaaand it kept stoping every 30 seconds to eat. stupid horse.

IX. el pelo del ladron

so we were cashing traveller's checks, and martin took forever, and mrs. sams-davis said it was because they were checking his criminal record... so i told him it was because he has "el pelo del ladron", "the hair of a thief". (martin has long, lovely locks ^_^)

X. damn you little mermaid!

so at jaco beach, there were these big rocks in the ocean.. and we tried to climb up on them to be like the little mermaid, and i cut both my feet. stupid feet. and a couple people (not me though, yay) got stung by needlefish. stupid needlefish.

XI. brandy watermelon

doh. at the hotel buffet, they had some fruit salad stuff.. so i ate it... except after i ate a whole dish of it, i found out that it had brandy in it.. like.. a lot of brandy.. *frowl* it didn't say it had brandy!! i just thought it was fruit syrup stuff!! but.. yeah. i didn't act any more drunk than i normally do.. so that worked out alright.

XII. you can rape me!

this was just something amusing that martin said, referring to the fact that if he and trina got it on, it would legally be rape. yes.

XIII. last night i had this dream...

this was a really weird dream i had. i'm not going to type all of it, but it involved o'malley's gay love affair; a party at meagna's house; and driving from bloomington to costa rica.

XIX. yell like jane!

oh.. i don't remember why this didn't get it's own notepad entry, so i'll stick it here.... when we were driving to our hotel in jaco beach, we saw.. "the beatle bar". next door to "groovy stuff". so of course we walked down there. it turned out to be realllly random (and not a juice bar ~_~) but they did sell t-shirts. so josh and miriam and i got them, and they say "word famous beatle bar", and they're great. (yes, "word famous".) anyway. yell like jane. later this day, we did the beeest thing ever... it's this thing, rightl, where they have cables strung between trees, so you go up one, and then you slide from tree to tree, above the rainforest canopy.. and it's really scary but also really exhilaring. and there was also a rope where you just swung from a tree to another, and the guide told us to "yell like jane", and it was funny.

XX. why does the rainforest need an emergency exit?

hmm. so we were walking in this natural reserve, and there was a big gate at the entrance that said "salida emergencia", emergency exit. which was amusing. because, dude, it's the rainforest. yeah. and we saw monkeys and stuff. we saw a lot of animals, actually. on jaco beach there were bats. and lots of monkeys and such.

XXI. unless the surprise is lunch, i don't want it!

it actually turned out to be crocodiles.

so. a whooole lotta fun. (and a whole lotta love. *nod*) but i'm glad to be home. because i mean they don't have dr. pepper in costa rica. dude. although they do have most excellent coffee.

this is the funniest thing in the entire world.

even funnier than christensen telling the entire to school to "assume the position" over the intercom this morning. (he was talking about the tornado drill.. but jeez.)

Hurricanes, animal corpses and the biohazard symbol have a lot in common. Think about it.

listening to: sheryl crow, tomorrow never dies

this is my favorite bond theme. ever!

sandman fans... i swear there's a scene in brief lives where delirium talks to orpheus, and she says something along the lines of "i just came to say. and now i'm going away again." but i can't find it, at all. like.. the orpheus scene is only a few pages, i'm suuure i would have seen it. is there another time when she talks to orpheus?! because i don't think so... it definitely couldn't come after this one.. because.. well, yeah.

anywho. our shakespeare class is going to start a shakespeare themed restaurant, to be called "stratford upon eatin'." some of our dishes will include hamlet, macbeef, the merchant of venison (yes, we're big on meat *shrug*), much ado about muffins, the taming of the fruit (fruit salad), julius caesar salad.. *considers* oh, the toastpest. and either steak-speares (shish kabobs) or shakespeare shakes ("they could be baby flavored! mmm, babies"). or both. yes. oh, and we'll have value meals, and whichever number you order comes with that sonnet. and kids meals come with either daggers or skulls. it'll be great

ahem. 2 days from now i'll be in costa rica! wheeeeeeee!

listening to: bob dylan, tangled up in blue

i think perhaps that i'll blog in rhyme,
it should be a fun time.
(let's see how long it will last,
i bet i'll get tired fast!)
yesterday there was a spaz bowl tournament,
despite feeling sickly, i went.
but i felt peachy when it was done,
and we all had fun.
then i returned to my room
and i played the sims (of doom!)
even though it was as foggy as could be,
i went to the show at the bbc!
dry ice factory rocked my socks
and no one had the pox.
simple in theory was unique
and they're not meek.
then we went to steak n' shake
and i ate strawberry shortcake!
(the food, not the cartoon.
if you ate her, you'd be a buffoon.)
good times were had by everyone
and i went to sleep when we were done.
today, my grandparents came
and i played more sims, my favorite game
we ate food, like pie
and then we said goodbye.
and now instead of homework
i'm writing this, like a jerk.

the end ^_^
