Viruses you suffer from:

Pokemon
Pikachu! Use your hyper-electric-get-a-life move now!

Junkfood
Eat some real food. Something which you can identify the source of every ingredient, not the point of manufacture.

Religion
Read "God's Debris" by Scott Adams (yes, the Dilbert guy)

Sci-fi
Stop wearing the stick-on ears.

Politics
Stop caring!

Brand Names
Having a well-known name doesn't make it good.

Hippyism
Free love is passe and potentially dangerous, and patchouli smells like cat piss.

Environmentalism
Consume more stuff! It's easier to buy new stuff than to recycle.

Macintosh
Use a mouse with more than one button.

heey... i definitely do not suffer from pokemon, religion, or macintosh! juuust cuz trina used to have a mac and therefore i can recognize all the crazy mac buttons doesn't mean anything! *sniff*

You are the Dog!

Which Harvest Moon SNES character are you?

You're a loyal friend to the hero of the game. You often play second fiddle to him because of your class, but you're great anyway. You're always true to yourself and help everyone as best you can... in your own fashion, of course. You take things slow and at your own pace; unlike Jack, you don't stress yourself out with deadlines and such. Hey, it's not so bad being the dog... at least you're not the drunk!

Congrats, your celeb match is Elijah Wood! You like a guy who's sweet, sensitive, a real sweetie who's truly a dork at heart! He can be shy at times, but you'll be there to reassure him. This guy is perfect for a meaningful long term relationship. He may never be on the cover of 'seventeen' but his true beauty and talent will be remembered. He'll treat you like a true princess. You are one lucky gal!

You are Rowlf!
You don't draw attention to yourself much, preferring to keep your cool and stay in the background
.

I'm the 1978 Ralph Bakshi animated Frodo!

Notorious, avant-garde, open-minded, and underappreciated, I'm like a 70's pop icon that never goes away.

As avant-garde as you are notorious, your reputation as the Bad Boy of Bag End precedes you. Sure, you might stir up a little controversy now and then, but deep down you're a nice, open-minded guy-- you just seem to be a magnet for weird friends and risky situations. You're tougher than most, so don't forget to stick to your guns (or your Elven knives) next time someone complains about your nontraditionalist taste in art or the way you tend to leave things unfinished. If they don't get it, it's their loss, after all.

*looong pause*

I took the What Mythological Creature Are you? test

i don't.. know what that is? *scratches head* *darts off to google*

Originally called Erinys... later called, Erinyes. Referred to as, "the mist-walking..." and, with fear and respect, "the kindly one". She would harass and injure her prey but not kill them. Homer refers to her in the singular (The Odyssey, 15.234) but, much later (circa 450 B.C.E.), Euripides used the number ’three’ and eventually ’they’ assumed the names: Tisiphone, Megaera and Alecto. Their brass wings made escape impossible, their ripping claws made their torment relentless and horrible.

We often confuse ’them’ with the Roman goddesses, the Furiae (Furies).

hrm. cool.

well. spaz bowl today, u-high came in second.. which was really good, because 4 of our 5 seniors were gone, and everyone on the team who can do math (except ryan) was gone for math team regionals. aand sinec it was the masonic tournament, we won $400!! we were making elaborate plans to hide it from papa holbs and split the money 7 ways. but... we didn't. *nod* and then.. i came home. and fell asleep. and 4 hours later, here i am. lol. i was going to go see hard day's night with talia tonight, at the normal.. but i woke up too late. yeah. heh, at spaz bowl, mike and ryan were trying SO hard to explain mousetrap cars to eliz and i, bless their hearts, but we were just NOT getting it. "but... how does the mousetrap make the car GO??" i was getting a tiny, tiny bit annoyed at ryan when he kept being like "next year it'll be so bad without annie, nobody knows ANYTHING about literature!" i was kinda mentally like "*flail* i did get 3 lit tossups today... but okay..." yeah.

last night miriam and i went to see wizard of oz at metcalf... omfg. it was SOOO long. like 3 effing hours. and hardly any of the kids could sing. it was like.. painful. but we got dismissed at 1:00 cuz the girls basketball team went to state, so talia and i wandered about downtown, and we kept running into an insanely large crowd of uhigh people. it was like "*flail* they're travelling in packs!" lol. easily amused. but i bought this orange shirt that says "pallbearers" on the front for $3. and it says like, "alibi lanes" on the back. which amuses me.

i should do homework. or something. blearg.

"*general confusion* 1992??"
"... oh no, we're in a time warp!"

"so.. besides my fervent incessity... hey what, i'm a conjugatin' fool!"

"so. um. i wrote this song on christmas.. it's kind of depressing... imagine what my holidays must be like. christmas used to be about faith, but now it's about presents/ and jesus is crying no, i'm kidding, that's not the song, i just made that up."

dude. the ani concert.. was SOOOO amazing. any of you out there who pass up on ani-portunities are morons. i mean. dude. she was just... amazing. ok, set list: (miriam got mad at me for writing down all the songs... but i didn't want to forget any of them, ok?? *sniff*)

freakshow
the diner
two little girls
32 flavors
marrow
what who when how (or whatever it's called)
napoleon
shameless
so what
oh my my
swan dive
poem
hour follows hour (i think that's what it's called?)
here for now
ain't that the way
jukebox
precipace?? (new song... i randomly named it precipace cuz it was in the chorus.. and i think it would be a good name for a song. lol.)

so yeah... what an AWESOME set list. it couldn't have been better if before the show she was like "sooo renata, what songs should i play?" well okay.. maybe she could have added untouchable face.. or pixie.. or buildings and bridges.. or.. arrgh, well, i love all her songs. but seriously, she played almost all of my favorites. it was SOOO awesome. right before she went onstage, i was like "ooh, i hope she plays the diner!" and it was the second song she played. so cool. and she just walked out with a bongo-type drum, and started playing, and did freakshow... omg. it was awesome. she was so funny. there was this guy with a big sign that says "KY (hearts) ANI!" and she was like "so... does that mean kentucky? or ky jelly?" lol. oh, and before she played marrow, she was like "so.. do you guys know dan the jesus man? he's so cool, you all need to go see him! or wait.. is he in the other bloomington? oh god, i think he's in the other bloomington... i'm so embarrassed!" and then she like.. walked over and stood in the corner and flailed for a bit.. and then she walked back over and started playing, but a couple lines into it she started cracking up and was like "sorry.. i'm still thinking about dan!" she did swan dive solo (i loooove swan dive) and it was SO awesome. ah... let's see... her 9-11 poem was SO amazing. it was DEAD quiet while she was reading it. (by the way, if you haven't read this.... you should.) it was a little different from the one that's up on rbr.. she said something about "we hold these truths to be self evident.. george bush is NOT the president.. and.. something something... something..." gaah. there were 3 of them.. and.. oh, it was just amazing. she did this awesome funky version of 32 flavors. um. it was so amazing. i'm so glad she did here for now, i love here for now. and... dammit! i have to go drop reid off... eh, i'll finish this rant later.

I Am A: Neutral Good Half-Elf Bard Ranger

Alignment:
Neutral Good characters believe in the power of good above all else. They will work to make the world a better place, and will do whatever is necessary to bring that about, whether it goes for or against whatever is considered 'normal'.

Race:
Half-Elves are a cross between a human and an elf. They are smaller, like their elven ancestors, but have a much shorter lifespan. They are sometimes looked down upon as half-breeds, but this is rare. They have both the curious drive of humans and the patience of elves.

Primary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.

Secondary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

squee for ani!

lol. i'm so tired. i fell asleep in world lit. again. damn thetard and her soporific booktapes! *shakes fist*

in spanish we have to write a fairy tale in spanish. so i'm looking at this book i had as a kid, "my favorite goodnight stories." omfg. they are all SO FUCKED UP. i'm suprised i didn't turn out some crazy, warped individual on account of these stories. (oh, wait....lol.) oh, there's the standard (albeit decidedly non-disney) stories, like sleeping beauty and beauty and the beast and such. but then there's stories like "the black bull of norroway." yeah, bet you don't remember that one, eh? some girl marries a bull because a fortune-teller told her. then for no apparent reason the bull goes off to fight the devil. if he wins, everything turns blue; if the devil wins, everything turns red. and if the girl moves at all, the bull will never find her again. everything turns blue, but she moves her feet. so she spends 7 years trying to find the bull. then she washes the bloodstains out of a shirt, cracks open an apple and finds some jewels, and lo and behold, the bull turns into the duke of norroway! .... right.

then there's "the tinder box." an old woman asks a soldier to go into a hollow tree and bring her a tinder box. he gets it, and asks why, and she won't tell him, so he kills her and goes on his merry way. buut, when he strikes the tinder box, 3 giant dogs will come and do his bidding. (if he has them sit on an apron. *shrug*) so the guy has the biggest dog bring him a princess each night. the king finds him and is gonna execute him, but as his last request he asks for a cigarette and uses his magic tinder box, and the giant dogs save him. then he marries the princess. i repeat, wtf?? there's like 25 of them, and most of them are crazy like that. elizabeth was telling me this fairy tale someone used to tell her, where 2 girls went to visit an old woman, and one of them cleaned her house and the other one didn't, and then when they left the lady gave them each a gift, and the girl who didn't clean the house opened the box and a spider jumped out and STAYED ON HER HEAD FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE. dude. that seems a bit harsh to me. but what do i know, i'm not an insane old woman who keeps big spiders in boxes...

guess who just swept the central catholic minitournament? uuuuu-high! woot! lol. like any of you care. i don't even care that much, i only played about 1/3 of the time. the rest of the time i spent making inappropriate comments with mike, and threatening to kill him with a stapler if he didn't rescind his highly inaccurate statements about tori amos. *frowl* but like.. it was SO funny. they were asking the most random questions. ever. like (actual questions, mind you) "catcher in the rye was written by jd. salinger. who wrote catch-22?" and "dwight eisenhower was the first president of all 50 states. who was the first king of england?" i mean they were just supposed to trick you into buzzing in early and saying something dumb. but it was hilarious. so mike and i were making up our own, like "shakespeare wrote hamlet. what animal is ham made out of?" and "the capital of hawaii is honolulu. what number am i thinking of?" and "charles dickens wrote oliver twist. who won the 1984 superbowl?" goodtimes. but i swear to god if he refers to tori as "that psycho angry redheaded dyke" one more time i will kill him. despite the fact that i believe in peace... bitch. (hee, couldn't resist.) aand i found out that stephen is going to the ani concert too! yaaay! i'm so psyched about ani. aand, saturday we have a tournament, and weiss is coaching instead of holbrook! yaaaaaay! ["yeah doc weiss!"] and sunday, i'm seeing phantom! yay (i think!) [by andrew lloyd jackson! hee!] and tuesday, i'm seeing rent! yaaaaay! and katie and kelly! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

squee! i saw priscellie and her friends mackenzie and chungy this weekend! after school my mom and i drove up and checked into our hotel (where we discovered that i had accidentally made hotel reservations for MARCH 15-16 instead of FEBRUARY 15-16.. i was SO angered by that..) and then like, we put our stuff in our room and such, and then pricellie and co. showed up! yay! and so we went to panera ("maaaybe i can pretend to be megan and get her employee discount!") and it was merry. then we went to barnes and noble, which was across the street.. and priscellie was angered by their lack of guards, guards! and i was amused by some star wars book that said it was a prequel to attack of the clones. i was like "um isn't that tpm?" but whatever.

*wanders downstairs, eats a biscuit, does laundry, comes back an hour later and is slightly confused by open blog window*

oops. um. well, after that.. we went to priscilla's hotel room and watched some carpet rolls fall on people and laughed merrily (seriously.. it was like, a headline story... "customers of this store were crushed by falling rolls of carpet earlier today... more on this after the break" lol. i think they were all ok though.) and then.. we watched about the olympics and the canadian skaters getting their gold medal.. yaay! i think watching too many bond movies has made me predisposed to dislike russians. lol.

interlude: i just realized that i missed andy stochansky on friday night. *froooowl* oh well, it was worth it ^_^

anyway... saturday we went to tour northwestern. it was a really pretty campus. and the tour guide amused me. thinking about college always sends me into panic attacks about how friggen expensive it's going to be. nyeeeh. hopefully i'll find some school that will say "we love you renata! we'll pay you A MILLION DOLLARS to come here!" or you know... something like that. yeah. and i really should do more... activities. but i don't want to. lol. anyway.

interlude 2:

Which Star-Crossed Marvel Lover Are You?

so then we went to get lunch at.... where? oh yeah... some cool restaurant near northwestern. goodtimes.

and then.. we went back to the hotel and pricellie and i plyaed harry potter uno, and narrated our game in a vaguely shakespearean style. ("renata shall play a red 'draw three card' and snicket merrily!" "priscilla shall draw said three and be sad." "renata will now follow her draw 3 card with an 8." "priscilla shall counter renata's 8 with a 9!") then we tried to get tickets for bs, an improv show parody of er, but it was sold out. so instead we got tickets for little house quite contrary, an improve parody of little house on the prairie. (chicago has a HUGE improv community.. in case you were wondering.) we were on the verge of lateness, but fortunately my mom talked the steppenwolf parking attendant into letting us park there. hee! (it was at the royal george.. which is across the street from steppenwolf... but much smaller. it only holds 50 people. it's so cute.) and it was SO funny. at the beginning they asked for audience input to put together the plot for the 'episode'... the annual mollusk festival was taking place, and a mysterious guest star, harold chung kao ping, who was ashamed of his unibrow. laura would help him accept himself, with her quest for a mustache. mrs. olsen (the bitchy shopkeeper) would learn the moral: clams have feelings too. it was SO funny. it... omg. hee. the guy who played pa ingalls was SO funny.. he kept making all these insanely random, yet oddly accurate facial expressions.... lol. it was sooo funny.

then we went to greek islands and ate... which was awesome as usual. yaay saganaki! (saganaki always oddly makes me think of oroku saki... aka shredder. um. i used to be so obsessed with teenage mutant ninja turtles. leave me alone.) and then we drove around chicago for awhile, and i was able to apply my stunning knowledge of chicago turn-of-the-century architecture. (okay, so my "stunning knowledge" consists of 'sullivan built the first skyscraper in chicago and he taught frank lloyd wright' and a few other facts. it's stunning to me. hee.) and then we dropped priscellie, mackenzie, and chungy back off at their hotel *sob* i heart you priscellie! mwaaaah!

i'm missing reid's birthday party to write this. and do homework.. and be lazy. and i didn't want to go. yeah. so i'm all alone in the house.. reading the secret diaries cos ellie told me too, and they're filarious with an f. hee.

listening to: barenaked ladies, be my yoko ono

hee... history club was selling valentines to raise money, and ashvin was whining that no one was buying them, so i sent him one... it was a crocodile hunter one, and he was wresting a crocodile, and it said "you're a naughty lizard!" it amused me SOOOOO much. and he sent me one with a cartoon walrus, and it says "i'll walrus like you!" hee! i'm sooooo amused by puns ^_^

since it's valentine's day.. and since *nina* posted the lyrics to an awesome cure (via tori amos) song... i'm gonna post the words to "be my yoko ono" *nod*

if there's someone you can live without, then do so.
And if there's someone you can just shove out, do so.

You can be my Yoko Ono
You can follow me wherever I go
Be my, be my, be my Yoko Ono.

isn't it beautiful to see two people so much in love?
Barenaked as two virgins hand in hand and hand and hand in glove.
Now that I'm far away it doesn't seem to me to be such a pain.
To have you hanging off my ankle like some kind of ball and chain.

You can be my Yoko Ono
You can follow me wherever I go
Be my, be my, be my Yoko Ono.

Oh no, here we go, our life is just one big pun.
Oh no, here we go as Yoko sings
Aieee!

I know that when I say this
I may be stepping on pins and needles.
But I don't like all these people
slagging her for breaking up the Beatles.
(Don't blame it on Yokey!)
if I was John and you were Yoko,
I would gladly give up musical genius,
just to have you as my very own, personal Venus.
(Hit it!)

You can be my Yoko Ono
You can follow me wherever I go
Be my, be my, be my Yoko Ono.

aww. i heart barenaked ladies. and i heart megan, and she just returned to our conversation ^_^

and now, just for fun... little tiny song! yaaay!
hey i'm a cow, i'm curious
hey watch me now, i'm furious
hey i'm a cow, i'm full of hate
hey watch me now, i'm on your plate

happy valentine's day to all, and happy birthday megan! yaaay! i heart you megan! and i have like, a pile of stuff i need to send you... which i'll do.. sometime. *nod*

apparently boosters was selling giant cookies for parents to send to students, and my mom got me one, and it was sooo good. it was like, the best cookie ever. yes.

i'm tired. and i think my eyes are numb.

i'm in the library, post-crashing jv spaz bowl questions. it was nice, cos none of the seniors were there, and out of the whole jv team, only jeff k. knows *anything* about literature... so i was on a roll. mwahaha. martin and timme read me their triangle project for pre-calc.. it is HILARIOUS. the funniest thing i've read all day. i wish i could remember it well enough to share it with you all ^_^ but they were angry that he gives me a's on *my* angry rants but *their* angry rants usually get b's or c's. mwahaha.

megan left *sob*

oh yes.. and *nina*... "california stars"?? what are you talking about? *sob* you're so cryptic.

listening to: rachael sage, pictures they took

hee... trina and miriam and i went to target and walmart today. we know how to have a good time on our day off school ^_^

i bought some cool things for megan. *needs to mail package soon... bah* also groceries. and such. then we went back to trina's house and watched the simpsons/step by step/full house/boy meets world all in the same half hour... we just kept switching back and forth. i have a problem with talking about boy meets world... i always say "boy meets boy" instead, and then everyone gets confused.

yeah. and we were looking at magazines... remember highlights? and "goofus and gallant"? didn't gallant just annoy the hell out of you? didn't he? he was always sooo perfect, just to make everyone else look bad... *frowls at gallant*

also, it drove us CRAZY that we were too dumb for the "find the differences"... i mean it's a magazine for 5-year olds! sheesh!

on the boards there's a poll about best love songs... here are mine:
"Be My Yoko Ono" by the Barenaked Ladies
"Rhyme" by Joshua Kobak
"Swim" by Stuart Davis ("That is why I reach for you so much/I think I'm drowning till we touch/Life is an ocean that we fall in/When you hold me I can swim")
"As Is" by Ani
"You Go To My Head" by Y Kant Tori Read (aka Tori Amos)
"Head Over Feet" by Alanis Morissette (... well, I heard it on the way home today and it occurred to me that it's a sweet song. Aww.)

*shrug* i don't... listen to that many happy love songs. more bitter and sad lovesongs. hee.

Which Action Star Are You? Find out @ She's Crafty

hee... that quiz is so easy to get the answer you want... sample question:

What's your claim to fame?
I'm the One.
I always have hot girls, hot cars and hot toys. Plus, I always win.
I'm the day-walker.
We're cute, we're fun, we're crime-fighting and we work for Charlie.
I was a hot-shot cop until my wife left me and I fell off the wagon.
I'm a world renowned archeologist.
I ripped out my eyes and this chick burned off my skin, blew me in half and I still crawled across the floor to kill her. Bygones, though. I saved her in the sequel.

hee. the only problem was i couldn't decide if i like bond, indy, or neo better... *flails distressedly*

listening to: ani, names and dates and places

random amusing quotes: "i brought you a souvenir, moneypenny.."
"dude!! is that a dildo??"
"i know *just* where to put this.."

hee. so i watched the world is not enough and it was SO funny... bond was meeting with some guy, and the guy whips out this box of cigars, right? but the cigars are in these... silver.. cigar shaped case-thingies... so i'm sitting there like "dude... why does he have a big box of dildos??" and then there was some violence and such, and then he brought one of the cigar/dildos back to moneypenny... and her response was SO funny... (btw, she actually threw it away... if you were wondering... ^_^)

after that, i watched goldeneye too...i heart bond movies. they're SO great. i'm such a sucker for all his bad puns. seriously, every single one makes me laugh like a moron. bond movies are so perfect. think about it... there's always lots of action scenes (to keep my attention span), you always KNOW that bond, m, q, and the good bond girl will live, so you don't have to waste time worrying about them dying, yet you get distressed enough to wonder how, how, HOW can bond possibly make it out of THIS ONE alive?.. and everyone else who dies is either bad, and therefore deserves to die, or else their characters weren't developed enough for you to care that they died. no emotional investment. pluus, there's always lots of attractive people of both genders, with accents to boot! not to mention all of q's nifty gadgets. speaking of which, since the guy who played q died, they had a little montage-tribute to him at the beginning of twine (ha, twine! *giggle*) and it made me so sad. you'd think i actually knew the guy. or.. that he actually existed, for that matter. (it wasn't so much the actor's death that saddened me as the loss of poor q.) buuut, the new q is john cleese.. so how can i *really* be sad?

i just got distracted by trying to figure out if i actually remembered kevin's tattoo melting down his arm in peoria or if i was thinking of jeremy... but del says it was kevin... so EAT IT whoever told me his tattoo was real! *dances victoriously*

anyway... back to goldeneye... i would like to nominate this for coolest damn bond movie ever. my reasons:
1. alan cumming. need i say more?
2. fine.. alan cumming with a russian accent, and cute round glasses.
3. robbie coltrane! aka hagrid! as some random guy who we get vaguely attached to but then i think he dies.
4. famke jennsen! aka jean grey! as a creepy woman who gets aroused by really random things! i think she dies too but i'm not sure.
5. sean bean! aka boromir! as eeevil 006 who dies too. oops, just gave away the ending... lol, not like you couldn't see it coming.
6. judi dench's first movie as m! evil bitch m! yay!
7. mst3k references galore! joe don baker! aaand... "9 years later" "9 years after the credits??" hee!
8. alan cumming in a hawaiian shirt!
9. the game was so cool! even if i was really bad at anything but multiplayer battle. and i was so oddly good at multiplayer battle that no one would play with me anymore. which was depressing. so... ah... well, it was still neato.
10. a reference to roman mythology! yay! (janus!)

see... 10 whole reasons. therefore, go rent this movie now. now now now.

oh, and megan.. i *tried* to call you back but it said "welcome to us cellular! the customer you have dialed cannot be reached! goodbye!" it made me sad.

*frowl*

i'm gonna go read some david sedaris (i read all of holidays on ice during twine... i can never just watch movies... generally doing one thing at a time isn't enough to keep me occupied... but i still have barrel fever..) and go to sleep. mm, sleep.

you see that? that, my friends, is the contented sigh of someone who has turned in 6 copies of a 16 page paper. mmm. that is true joy right there ^_^ now i can freely forget everything i know about the chicago renaissance, including the stuff i already knew... so if you have any burning questions about the chicago renaissance, ask me now!

What Pattern Are You?

those are pretty stripes... oooh.

hee, i'm SOO pumped about no school tomorrow. eliz and trina and miriam and i went to the mall after spaz bowl.. but we just sat in the food court and ate and ranted a lot and didn't actually buy anything. also, i got really excited in physics about disproving mulder's (i mean whatever david duchovny's mulder-knockoff character was named) theory in evolution.. but then i realized the aliens were nitrogen based and not silicon based. and then i got angry at myself for not only being a geek, but an unsuccessful geek at that.

by the way, papa holbs was apparently quite amused by our note ^_^ bwaahaha.

i came home today and my mom was gone, but there were 2 new david sedaris books on the table with a note for me... i <3 my mom so much. squee.

anyway.. i'm going to go watch the world is not enough because reid rented it.. and i'm in the mood for a cheesy bond movie. although i'd rather watch goldeneye, because not only is it a cheesy bond movie, buuut alan cumming is in it. hee. and he has a russian accent. but anyway.

gooooing now.

random amusing quote: "no one has ever questioned my susan-ness!"

dude... today i went to trina's house, and we were going to go shopping... but we rented evolution instead.

oooh my god. that was SUCH a bad movie. i was so embarrssed on behalf of david duchovny. we kept sitting there going "maaaybe it'll get better... maaaybe it'll get better.. OH MY GOD, it got worse!"

so, do yourself a favor and don't watch evolution ^_^

then i went to eliz's to work on a precalc project (of dooom) and kept calling trina and then getting into screaming fights with her about rotation of triangles. hee.

woot, i just watched monty python, "life of brian"! not as good as holy grail... but then, what really is?

oops.. i just trimmed my thumbnail too short and now it's bleeding. sigh. i have this weird thing about my nails.. i HATE it when they're too long.and "too long" is usually anything beyond the quick. it just feels so weird to me. i don't like it when they bleed, either.. but whatever. that's what harry potter bandaids are for ^_^

anyway. i needed a couple more books for my chicago renaissance paper, so i went into milner today... i just needed a few really general things that any self-respecting library would have... sandburg's chicago poems, fullers the cliff-dwellers, and lindsay's collected poems... all goes well, until i get to lindsay.. milner has like, 20 of his books, but they're all in "special reserves" meaning, i can't have them! not ONE of vachel lindsay's books was available to be checked out!! you have no idea how muc this angered me. well, maybe you do. anyway... i figured that maybe normal public library might have the book i was looking for.. and holy crap, they did! i practically did a happy dance around the library.

Would you survive a horror movie? Find out @ She's Crafty

No psycho slayer is going to get between you and your right to life. You're an ass-kicker, a charge taker, and if need be, a monster masher. You're level-headed in sticky situations, you trust yout instincts, and you're not afraid to get a little dirty while getting the job done. Simply put, you rock! But don't get carried away. Even though your little brother might act like a creep sometimes, you definately shouldn't be driving stakes through his heart!

erm, right.

anyway. during the driving classes i wrote a rentfic in my head and scribbled it down during our 10 minute break. it's my first rentfic, and actually the first thing i've written outside school for a pretty long time. it's certainly no masterpiece.. but it amuses me. it's called "pants" and that's all i'm sayin' for now. mayhap i'll post it tomorrow.

okay.. i have to be at a key club meeting in.. 6 minutes.. .but i wanted to quickly blog about this incident before its full glory has time to fade from my memory...

mr. holbrook was gone all day, only the sub for physics never showed up. (my physics class is at 1:00.) so all the classes just took roll on a sheet of paper, and left. nobody told any school officials or anything ^_^ buut eliz and trina and i were afraid papa holbs would get mad that no one did anything. SOO... the 3 of us and matt stayed in the room and found the dart guns, and played "shoot the elements" for awhile. (the higher the atomic number, the more points you got... matt and i tied with 108... unium or somesuch.) then, eliz and i got mr. weiss (the chem teacher and jv spaz bowl coach) to tell him that the sub never showed. then we invited him to join us.. he accepted ^_^ then he left after 5 or so minutes, and our game sort of evolved into crazy, all-terrain trench warfare, the 3 girls against matt. it was HILARIOUS. i just... can't describe how insanely fun it was. then we tacked a note onto the end of the roll call letter: "dear mr. holbrook: we informed mr. weiss of our sub-less situation, and then we all partook in a rousing game of 'shoot the elements.' later, we took mrs. ives hostage with the dart guns. regrettably, she was a casualty of war. signed:
lieutenant elizabeth

good times. eee, i gotta go.. bye all!

listening to: tori, winter (live, and awesomely so)

i miss megan... so much *sniff* i can't believe i haven't seen her since june.

anyway. i just checked my voicemail after school, and i had one from megan! and it was amusing, and she was giving me her number to call her back, and theeen the battery died. *frowl* i suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to charge my cellphone once in awhile. anyway. so that made me sad. but theeen i got home and i had a package from megan!! *prance* the envelope amused me... SO much. it had a shiny naked folk punk singer, and a hello kitty (and a tricky mimmy), aaaand a portrait of megan and i. (2 stick figures.. one with yellow hair and one with purple hair ^_^) it's the best thing ever. and then i opened it! it had "the flat parts" of my christmas present (i love getting late presents.. it spreads out the joy of the season [ie me getting presents] so much longer ^_^) anyway. megan has the COOLEST sparkly tissue paper! *flails joyously* and dude, megan... 2 years ago, MY christmas cards said "the riot continues. the christmas tree goes up in flames. the snow dances."!!!! except nobody got it. and that sparkly silver paper is the coolest stuff ever. anyway... megan sent me more nekkid stuart bookmarks (i have four of them now ^_^), a hello kitty pencil, some ladybug bookmarks, a ladybug best friends necklace (specifically, "best"), aaand these awesome lemony snicket cards. random thought: if we both hate ladybugs so much, why are we constantly giving each other ladybug crap??? anyone who can answer this question will get... i dunno... peace of mind? anyway... i conclude this paragraph by saying i <3 megan.

onto paragraph 2, wherein the important topic of who would win in a fight between a shark and a gorilla, is discussed. assume average shark and average gorilla, and they are fighting in the exact level of water where they have equal levels of mobility. (this actually makes senses, kind of: andy's point was that the gorilla would have better mobility in one inch of water, and the shark would have better mobility in 10 feet of water, therefore there exists an equilibrium wherein both animals have equal dexterity.) andy convinced me that the gorilla would win: with its superior intelligence and.. well, arms, it could pick up the shark and hit it against rocks until it died. joe had a pretty convincing case for the shark, though... and i'm sure you could make one too, if you were so inclined.

i was listening to that shakira song, "whenever, wherever" this morning... and i came to the startling realization that it contains the lyric "luckily my breasts are small and humble so you don't confuse them for mountains." this is quite puzzling. is it a poor translation from the original spanish? is it some sort of bizarre feminist metaphor? ("my breasts are like mountains.. men fear to ascend my feminine power! grr!") is it meant literally? ("hey shakira, you've got some mountains in your shirt... ooh, my bad, just breasts!") it's just an all-around odd lyric. i disapprove.

anyway.... on that note, i leave you all.

well, this is just absurd.

If I were a Springer-Verlag Graduate Text in Mathematics, I would be Saunders Mac Lane's Categories for the Working Mathematician.

*FROWL*

i just wrote a huge entry and i've been sitting here in the library before class for like, half an hour, ranting away... ranting, ranting away... and then i clicked a link and BLOGGER WENT AWAY! *sob* so anyway...

the personality disorder test

Paranoid: Low
Schizoid: Low
Schizotypal: High
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Low
Histrionic: Low
Narcissistic: Low
Avoidant: Moderate
Dependent: Low

like, i took this before i think. but whatever, look at the description for schizotypal:

Many believe that schizotypal personality disorder represents mild schizophrenia. The disorder is characterized by odd forms of thinking and perceiving, and individuals with this disorder often seek isolation from others. They sometimes believe to have extra sensory ability or that unrelated events relate to them in some important way. They generally engage in eccentric behavior and have difficulty concentrating for long periods of time. Their speech is often over elaborate and difficult to follow.

*sigh* oh well. it probably makes me a more interesting person, my craziness. ^_^

avoidant also sounds familar... but not so much. i think i'm in the normal range of that ^_^

Avoidant personality disorder is characterized by extreme social anxiety. People with this disorder often feel inadequate, avoid social situations, and seek out jobs with little contact with others. They are fearful of being rejected and worry about embarassing themselves in front of others. They exaggerate the potential difficulties of new situations to rationalize avoiding them. Often, they will create fantasy worlds to substitute for the real one. Unlike schizoid personality disorder, avoidant people yearn for social relations yet feel they are unable to obtain them. They are frequently depressed and have low self-confidence.

hee. yay me.

"but 'boy bands' has alliteration!!"
"aaand, they both start with the same letter!"

"hey! hey renata! ... i don't remember who i am!"

"okay... renata, what symbolism do you see in this picture?"
"erm... the giant 8 will win the evil furry snake war?"

that was a seriously messed up poster... it was german ww1 propaganda, encouraging people to buy war bonds... and it was a giant red 8 strangling a creepy furry snakey thing, which had lots of arrows in it. (we later decided that it was a mongoose. which is really confusing, because usually mongeese are supposed to be good. but the giant 8 was clearly the hero of the poster.)

i'm hungry. and three of my fingers are bleeding. sigh. (left pointer, right pointer, and right pinkie. in case you wanted to know.)

re: megan's blog: omfg, i remember in kindergarten we couldn't HAVE trapper keepers... that saddened me so. and zoobilee zoo was SUCH a great show.

listening to: y kant tori read, you go to my head

i love yktr. so much. well i mean i love all of tori's music. i love her voice... it's just so... *makes vague hand gesture in attempt to describe tori's voice* and yktr combines tori with groovalicious 80sness... if the lyrics are a bit lacking compared to some of her later stuff, well, so what? and really, her spectacular flop of a first album is SO much better than a lot of other cds i could name... ee, i love it when she does the "yoo-oou go to my hee-aaad" part...

anyway. i'm so tired.

frowl.org is active, but the domain isn't... *prance* the domain will be ready tomorrow. i'm quite merry. (by the way, in the interim... you can look at a graphic that says "frowl dot org" here: http://europa.your-site.com/~frowl/ ^_^ the font is called "white horses are still in bed" and it's based on tori amos' handwriting! (not that i'm obsessive... *shifty eyes* .. it's just a cool font, okay? i like how the js are swoopy. and the gs. ) which reminds me.. if anyone else wants to tell me what they want their directory name to be... do so ^_^ *giggle*

but anyway. funny story... in apush, we spent the last 3 days in a hypothetical teddy roosevelt murder mystery. saturday at spaz bowl... there's a question about who attempted to assasinate tr. eliz and mike and i just started laughing hysterically.. because we had NO EFFING CLUE who actually shot him. lol. we yelled at ms. scott today ^_^

yes. homework now. sigh.

I'm a Wind Spirit

Thought above feeling and mind over matter are your mottos. Others come to you for advice and guidance. Some see you as introverted and snobbish, but they are merely jealous of your common sense knack to think things through. Don't be afraid to listen to your heart though

by the way, i just send off the order for frowl.org ^_^ it should be active sometime...tomorrowish.. *shrug* i'll let all involved know ^_^ (it said "within 8 business hours.")

listening to: ani, rant (not a song... just... an mp3 of a rant)

random amusing quote: "i'll ice your baby!"

okay... so... this morning we went to the central catholic all-tossup tournament, which was much fun. we were 3 and 2 (and the pontiac match was SO close... so it was really more like, 3.5 and 1.5) but it was SO much fun. mike was captaining, and he always made a point to introduce us as "u-high... X-FACTOR!" and then we'd all cross our arms and go "exxxx!" it was great. this one moderator looked at us really seriously and was like "please.. don't do that again." lol. and they had SO many wicked-hard questions... omfg. random example: "what is the name for the snail's tongue-like organ?" (by the way.. it's NOT "snail tongue". unfortunately.) i got 14 tossups, and eliz and mike each got 13. go us. (although that's a REALLY low percentage, considering there were 40 tossups per match... but like i said, they were HARD.)

anyway. then eliz, trina, mike and i all went to ruby tuesdays and had SO much fun. when we sat down, the waitress brought us menus and was like "so how are you ladies doing?" the look on mike's face was THE funniest thing ever. we were all laughing so hard for at least 5 minutes straight. so then the waitress was like "oh! i'm so sorry! you're the manliest man i've ever seen! look at you.. you and your manliness!" lol. and then i was talking about mr. holbrook and physics... and it somehow combined itself into "mister physics"... which amused us all greatly. and then the four of us split this chocolate ice cream cakey thing... omg... the *four* of us could not finish it. it was GIANT. yes.

and then.. we all went and worked on our physics project at trina's house... and it amused me SO much when trina was like "i think that cake at tuby ruesdays made us high!" and i started laughing really hard, and she was like "what? what?" and i couldn't even talk, i was like "tu... tuuby ruesdays... bwaahhahaa!" good times.

and then.. i went to work at the travis tritt concert. which was kind of intimidating... lots and lots of cowboy hats. ee. but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. it amused me how well he could work his audience. like he'd make vague references to dale earnhart and america and the whole audience would just scream their heads off. there was this girl working in the balcony with me who was either drunk or really easily amused (i really couldn't tell which one... maybe both... but she didn't smell drunk, or walk funnily... she was just really easily amused) and we had fun together ^_^ there was a scary old guy behind me, with a hat and glasses and everything, and he kept SCREAMING stuff like "dammit, play some bluuuegrass! show 'em what you're made of, travis!!" and finally i was like "uh... sir, could you please keep it down?" and he just glared at me. it was really scary. so i was like "ee... thanks!" and walked away. side note... i've noticed when i have to say bad things to people when i'm ushering, i start unconsciously using a minnesota accent. like "oh golly, i'm sooorry! you need to be in the next roow!" well like.. i can't type with a minnesota accent, dontchaknow. (i haven't said "dontchaknow" to date... but i fear i might someday.) anyway. and then later in the show, the same scary screamy guy had a lighter out, which is also forbidden. so i was like "uh.. sir, you're not allowed to use a lighter in the auditorium.." and he just like.. glared more fiercely at me and put it away. and after the concert, on his way out, he told suzanne (drunk/amused girl) "have a good evening!" and she was like "oh, you too!" and he was like "well, i WOULD, except SOMEONE yelled at me for being too noisy and having a lighter and *rambles about travis tritt for awhile*" i was amused.

aaaand i am EXHAUSTED. so i'm gonna go to bed. oh, and post this:

Okay, I just read my blog notes... so the list of frowl.org-ers as of now is:
Me
*nina*
Jason
Talia
Kait
Megan
Ayano
Chelle
(Ellie maybe?)

So 8? If anyone still wants in/out, let me know ^_^
My mom said I could register it on her credit card, and then everyone could send me their money... which would be $12 a year, plus like... $2 for the registration fee.
Also, I just looked.. and they only sell the extra space in 50 meg blocks. So 10 would be a really nice number of us to have ^_^ But if no one else wants in, I'll just pay for the extra space.. coz it's not that much. Yeah. (Or if someone wants more than 10 megs... then... yeah.)
Oh yeah-- and we get 25 POP email accounts... so everyone could have at least two of them, if they wanted. Yeah. For more info: http://www.your-site.com/host-one.html.

listening to: ttb, no more

so like... i just went to go see "kate and leopold" with miriam... except when i got there, she suddenly got really sick and had to leave. i hope she's okay 0_0 so i was like "damn" and went to cash my paycheck, and then i spent the whole thing on books at barnes and noble. (please note that this pay period, "the whole thing" consists of a big $19.02 because i only worked at the illinois symphony concert.) and only one of the books was for me... i bought good omens! yay! and for reid, because his birthday is tomorrow, i bought him this simpsons book. "bart simpson's guide to life" or something. it looked funny. and then i bought him the best card ever... it has this groundhog (well, i assume it's a groundhog) standing at a little microphone, and he's singing "you ain't nothing but a groundhog.." see, because his birthday is groundhog's day, aaand he used to really like elvis... see how it works on multiple levels?? i was so proud of that. yes. and ellie, there was this hardcover terry pratchett book on clearance for $6, and i almost bought it because you're always ranting about him, and the title amused me (the fifth elephant) and.. well, it was $6. but i didn't. maybe i'll go back next time i get paid. anyway.

kait said she'd be willing to join the domain-sharing thing... and everyone so far seems to like frowl.org. (and i do too.) *prance* so if anyone else wants to join frowl.org (or wants to share the domain, but really hates the name frowl.org) let me know! it's cheap! and you'll be sharing a domain with 4 (so far) totally awesome people! *nod* yes.

listening to: rhs, over at frankenstein palace

anyway... i already emailed some people about this... but whatever. would anyone be interested in splitting a domain name for blogs and such? if we registered at your-site.com, it would only be $5 a month, so if there were 5 of us.. that's $1 a month. so far jason and talia already said yes.. and it would be 50 megs, so i think 5 would be a good number? (and i'm reserving a place for megan until she tells me otherwise ^_^) so if a couple more people want in, contact me somehow :) also, if you have any suggestions for what the actual domain should be, let me know that too... i was thinking... frowl.org or something... but then "frowl" is really my word so i don't want to be like, a controlling bitch or anything ^_^ so like, let me know. yeah. and of course, if like.. a *lot* of people randomly want in, we could get a bigger account. but i didn't think too many would. so whatever. (edited to add: i just looked, at it costs 10 cents for each additional meg of storage [per month]. so if more than 5 people wanted to share, it would be pretty cheap for them to do so. yeah.)

edited *again*: *frowl* when it says "free setup" it apparently doesn't include the one-time $20 registration fee. so we'd have to split that up, which would add a couple more $$ per person. but just a one-time thing. yeah.
